3 Introduction No one knows for sure who will win the election on November 8 th, But if Bernie Sanders ends up victorious, there are some strategies you can employ right now that could prove profitable in the event that Sanders wins the election. In this short strategy guide, you ll discover 3 strategies that could pay off handsomely in the event that Bernie Sanders becomes the 45 th President of The United States. Keep in mind, the purpose of this report is NOT to try and predict who will eventually win the election, but rather to show you how to go after potential profits by highlighting different investment opportunities based on how the markets may react if Bernie Sanders becomes the next Commander in Chief. Profit Play #1: Short The Broad Market Wall Street does NOT trust Bernie and if elected, it could send stocks tumbling. You can potentially profit from this event by shorting the broad market. There are numerous ways to essentially bet against the U.S. stock market, but one of the better ways is to buy put options on the SPDR 500 EFT (Symbol: SPY) The SPDR 500 ETF is an index fund that tracks the S&P 500. And buying a put option on SPY means you d make money if the S&P500 market goes down. Naturally, if the market goes up your put options would lose value. However, many investors use put options to hedge their long positions. This means if you have a $100,000 portfolio in the S&P 500 and you are concerned that if elected, Bernie Sanders will cause the S&P 500 to tumble, you could simply buy enough put options on the S&P 500 to cover $100,000. This way if the market tumbles, your put options will increase in value and cover any losses you might sustain from your S & P 500 positions. And if for some reason the market goes up on the news of Bernie winning on election night, then your regular

4 portfolio will have increased in value and the put options will have served as a lowpriced insurance policy. Key ETF To Watch SPDR 500 ETF (SPY) Description: SPY is the best-recognized and oldest ETF and typically tops rankings for largest AUM and greatest trading volume. The fund tracks the massively popular US index, the S&P 500. Few realize that S&P's index committee chooses 500 securities to represent the US large-cap space not necessarily the 500 largest by market cap, which can lead to some omissions of single names. Still, the index offers outstanding exposure to the US large cap space. Unlike direct peers IVV and VOO, SPY is a unit investment trust, an older but entirely viable structure. As a UIT, SPY must fully replicate its index (it probably would anyway) and forego the small risk and reward of securities lending. It also can t reinvest portfolio dividends between distributions; the resulting cash drag will slightly hurt performance in up markets and help in downtrends. SPY is extremely cheap to hold, but is typically edged out by IVV and VOO in this respect. SPY's phenomenal trading volume makes it the perfect vehicle for tactical traders and mom and pop investors alike. (Source: etf.com) Profit Play #2: Buy Gold If Bernie is elected, there s a good chance that gold could hit all-time highs. There are two different ways to go after profit in this situation. First, you can buy physical gold. I actually advise my students to hold 10% of their portfolio value in gold bullion coins. If the price of gold goes up, your coins will be worth more money. But the true benefit of this strategy is that if things ever hit the fan and we see a complete collapse of the stock and financial markets, paper money may become practically worthless and gold could reign supreme as the preferred currency. So in effect, owning physical gold is essentially insurance against a market crash.

5 The second strategy is to buy GLD and/or SLV. These are exchange-traded funds that track the gold and silver markets, respectively. In simple terms, if the price of gold goes up, the value of your position of GLD will go up. Same for silver. Key ETFs To Watch SPDR Gold Trust (GLD) Description: The SPDR Gold Trust tracks the gold spot price, less expenses and liabilities, using gold bars held in London vaults. GLD is the largest ETF to invest directly in physical gold. NAV is set at 10 AM EST based upon the London PM fix, so GLD has an extremely close relationship with spot prices. Its structure as a grantor trust protects investors; trustees cannot lend the gold bars. However, taxes on long- term gains can be steep, as GLD is deemed a collectible. It is extremely liquid, trading at miniscule spreads. Although more expensive to hold than competitor IAU, GLD is typically cheaper to trade. Also, GLD's NAV has a larger handle, which corresponds to more gold exposure per share. Investors paying pershare commissions should find this fact appealing. (Source: etf.com) ishares Silver Trust. (SLV) Description: The ishares Silver Trust tracks the silver spot price, less expenses and liabilities, using silver bullion held in London. SLV gives investors direct exposure to silver by physically holding the metal in vaults in London. As such, investors get exposure to spot silver (determined by the London Silver Fix), less fund expenses. As this fund is considered a collectible for tax purposes, taxes on long-term gains are quite steep. The expense ratio is also significantly higher than comparable funds. Still, SLV is the most liquid fund in its peer group and trades easily for retail and institutional investors alike. It is also the largest fund in its segment, suggesting stability for buy-and-hold strategies. (source: etf.com)

6 Profit Play #3: Bet Against The U.S. Dollar If Bernie Sanders wins the election, there s a good chance the dollar will fall in value. This is because any candidate with plans to increase spending will most likely to work with the Fed to print more currency. (This is known as Quantitative Easing.) Of course, printing more money cheapens the existing money supply and as result the value of the dollar could plummet. Here s how to potentially profit from this scenario. Buy what s known as a inverse ETF that tracks the U.S. Dollar. An inverse ETF means you d make money if the value of the dollar falls. And of course, your position could lose money if the value of the U.S. Dollar goes up. Key ETF To Watch Powershares DB US Dollar Index Bearish Fund (UDN) Description: The PowerShares DB U.S. Dollar Index Bearish Fund tracks the changes in value of the euro, Swiss franc, Japanese yen, British pound, Swedish krona and Canadian dollar relative to the US dollar. UDN is more of a bet against the dollar than a bet for any particular currency. It shorts USDX contracts, which means that it s short the US dollar and long six foreign currencies: the euro, Japanese yen, British pound, Swedish krona, Canadian dollar and Swiss franc. The USDX uses a static weighting scheme based on exchange rates in 1973 that highly weights the euro. As a result, expect to see big moves in the fund in response to euro movements. UDN is on the expensive side, but is reasonably liquid and has performed well against our benchmark, so it may be worth its higher price tag. But there is no denying that major political events (like a presidential election) can have a dramatic impact on the markets.
