Bernard Fasciano s club achievements are as follows: Director s 2002, Rising Star 2004, Pace Setters 2005, Paramus 2006, 2007 and 2008, and President s Mr. Fasciano was also presented with the Culture of Excellence awards from Paramus in 2005 and Ridgewood in In addition to his financial advisor responsibilities, Bernard Fasciano is the Consulting Services Group Coordinator for the Ridgewood, NJ branch. Prior to joining Tanaka Capital, Bernard was Associate Vice President/Generalist of Systematic Financial Management, Inc. While at Systematic, he strongly influenced asset growth from $160 million to $1 billion under management. His duties at Systematic included portfolio management (analyzing market and portfolio performance), marketing, client servicing and compliance. While obtaining his undergraduate degree and after graduation, he served as Vice President-Director of Marketing for a large family enterprise. Bernard received a B.S. in Marketing with a concentration in Finance from Rutgers University, Newark College of Arts and Sciences. He is an Investment Consultant through the University of Pennsylvania, The Wharton School, and completed the Certified Financial Planning I and II Designations. 17 Strategic Asset Allocation I. The Role of Efficient Frontier Analysis in Strategic Allocation Efficient Frontier Analysis is not used to create specific strategic allocations for clients nor is it used to generate expected/forecast risk and return data. Rather, among other purposes, it is used to: Reflect the long term, historical relationship between risk (return volatility) and return of a well diversified portfolio; To provide perspective and to illustrate the range of returns and risk that have been experienced historically for a well diversified portfolio; To provide us with base case or reference points when developing customized strategic allocations for clients; and Reflect specific asset class risk and return relationships within and across asset classes. II. Global Wealth Management Model Portfolios The GWM Model Portfolios do not necessarily fall on the Efficient Frontier because of the risk (i.e., diversification) constraints GWM has assigned to the asset classes. If left totally unconstrained, the optimization would allocate a significantly higher percentage to those asset classes with higher Sharpe ratios, not taking into account qualitative factors such as liquidity.

20 Manager Selection Criteria Diversification A well constructed portfolio is diversified across a variety of asset classes and managers Long-Term Performance We seek a proven track record of superior performance in their area of expertise. From a universe of equity managers that meet Morgan Stanley Smith Barney s stringent due diligence requirements, we review 10, 7, 5 and 3 year performance, eliminating managers who have not outperformed the S&P 500 over each of these periods. Risk Characteristics Risk can be measured several ways. We look for managers with historical standard deviation (a measure of return volatility risk) below the S&P 500 over 10, 7, 5 and 3 year periods, eliminating managers who do not satisfy this requirement Proprietary Screening & Analysis We then cross-reference our preliminary performance and risk results against our team s proprietary screening tools. This recalculates manager performance, factoring in their risk level, coming up with a risk-adjusted return for every period. Our final statistical screen over-weights long-term vs. short-term risk management abilities and produces a basis for comparison between managers

21 Manager Selection Criteria (continued) Subjective Analysis From our short list of managers, we apply more subjective screening overlays to evaluate risk management through specific market cycles We then compare portfolio compositions with attractive traditional & alternative managers to evaluate blended relative historical risk-adjusted return scenarios Importance of Dividend Yield Dividend paying stocks have historically outperformed, are less volatile and have longer holding periods than non-dividend paying stocks. New tax laws make these stocks even more attractive. Therefore, we seek equity managers who recognize the importance of dividend yield to the long term performance of their portfolios Correlation Analysis & Capture Ratios A critical and often overlooked means of managing risk within a portfolio is correlation. We seek low correlation between assets classes, managers and individual assets. Among non-correlated managers, we seek those with superior capture ratios. The use of hedge funds, managed futures, real estate & international equities is vital to our ability to develop portfolios with low risk profiles Investment Objectives: Each investor has unique investment objectives, tax implications and income needs. We manage portfolios to achieve absolute returns with these needs in mind. We expect our portfolios to outperform the S&P 500 over a 5+ year period with a standard deviation well below that of the S&P 500. Ongoing monitoring & rebalancing is essential to ensure that objectives are being met.
