From: J. B. Sent: Sunday, August 28, :54 PM Subject: Please don't let Kinder Morgan take over Terasen! Dear Sir or Madam. It is with great exmpahsis that I state my rejection of the purchase of Terasen Gas by a US company, Kinder Morgan. Please register my opposition and have it documented for the future hearing. As a BC resident for the last 32 years, I can't believe we would even consider an offer such as this. Have we not learned anything from the lumber tariffs from our friends down South?! Thank You! Akash Sablok Vancouver, BC
From: Sent: To: Subject: Arne Sahlen Sunday, August 28, :05 AM Commission Secretary BCUC:EX Natural Gas 28 August 2005 To whom it may concern: PLEASE RECONSIDER the sale of Terasen gas company to an American group. Recent events around beef and softwood lumber show how little value our southern neighbours place on Canadian interests. Canada MUST preserve its sovereignty over and control of natural resources and the profits they realize. I look forward to hearing soon that this sale has been blocked or reversed. Yours sincerely, Arne Sahlen Take advantage of powerful junk filters built on patented Microsoft SmartScreen Technology. &SU= Start enjoying all the benefits of MSN Premium right now and get the first two months FREE*. 1
From: bill young Sent: Sunday, August 28, :18 AM Subject: sale of terasen gas Why would we even consider selling to the Americans after all the problems we been having with our exports.why would we even think of giving our private information to a country that will use it against us.they have already proved they can't be trusted. why would we even consider giving away a natural canadian resource when we don't have to.it seems like it always comes down to the almighty dollar. Its time to run the country like a proud country instead of a lowly buisness venture.
From: Don Bens Sent: Sunday, August 28, :38 PM Cc: Commission Secretary BCUC:EX Subject: Terasen Gas What is wrong with the bureaucrats wanting to sell Reasen Gas to an American Co. Why sell something that we already own and be forcwed to buy it back at "Lord only knows what kind of price." Give your head a shake and keep what we already own.
From: rdreamacres Sent: Sunday, August 28, :23 PM Subject: sale of Terasan Gas This sale to an American company should be stopped immediately. We are giving too much control of our resources to the Americans and then we have to pay more to get it back. The Americans want complete control of every resource that there is, and they have never been know to keep from cheating on the other people as they always have the bigger club.
From: GGG Sent: Sunday, August 28, :12 PM Subject: How dare you! As a taxpayer and true patriot, I am ashamed and disappointed in the totally irresponsible management of our resources in British Columbia. We are selling ourselves out to the Americans just as Mr Mulroney did with the so called free trade agreement. How short sighted and immature of our motley politicians. Political careers used to be built and maintained on integrity and a true commitment to the citizens but now it is painfully obvious that they are built on greed and pension mongering! We, the taxpayers, know full well that natural gas prices will soar as the benefits are passed on to the Americans and we are left with having to pick up the tab. We are very naive if we think that we will have any say in preventing usurious increases because after all, we are dealing with a nation whose arrogance does not believe in negotiating. It is a sad day for the citizens of BC. Garry G Gosselin Ashwell Road Chilliwack BC V2P 7S6
From: Gwen Sent: Sunday, August 28, :14 AM Subject: terasen gas I strongly disagree with the sale of BC resources to US companies. It is just a matter of time before Canada becomes part of the USA if our natural resources are all controlled by US companies. G. Davis
From: Sent: To: Subject: Ian Puchlik Sunday, August 28, :33 PM Commission Secretary BCUC:EX Terasen I am outraged that Terasen will be sold to the Americans. If the BC Utilities Commission cannot stop this sale, one wonders why we should have the Commission. 1
From: Barbara Cooper Sent: Sunday, August 28, :16 PM ; investcan@ic.gc.ca Subject: Terasen To: BC Utilities Commission and the Investment Review Division, Industry Canada Please do not approve the takeover of Terasen by the Texas company, Kinder Morgan. We believe strongly that the ownership and operation of a public utility should remain with the government of the people the utility directly serves. Should government control not be an option, then at least ownership should reside in our province or, as a third choice, our country. We do not condone foreign ownership of our valuable resources and hope you will act accordingly for, and in the best interest of, the people of British Columbia. Sincerely, Jack & Barbara Cooper White Rock, BC
From: Sent: To: Subject: sitkum Sunday, August 28, :36 AM Commission Secretary BCUC:EX Block sale of Terasen Dear BC Utilities Commission: I wish to have my voice counted among those who oppose the proposed sale of Terasen to Kinder Morgan. Don't sell off BC resources to multinational big business. We risk having to buy our resources back a the prevailing rate with profits leaving BC and Canada!! I consider the wholesale sell-off of BC resources a big mistake. I still have my BRICK shares of provincial resources that were distributed to BC citizens by the Socreds some 20 years ago. I want to vote my shares against this sale! Respectfully, Joe Lintz 3986 Hwy 3A Nelson, BC V1L 6N
From: Sent: To: Subject: LOUISE PALMER Sunday, August 28, :28 AM Commission Secretary BCUC:EX Rejection of Kinder Morgan I wish to state my disapproval of the purchase of Terasen Gas by a US Company. As you know the company's name is Kinder Morgan. In my opinion we should not be selling any of our natural resources or control of same in anyway to a company based in another country. I would appreciate documentation of my Disapproval Letter. Yours truly, Louise E. Palmer Vancouver 1
From: Maryam Murat-Khan Sent: Sunday, August 28, :46 PM Subject: Terasen Sale I am really concerned about the sale of Terasen to Kinder Morgan Inc. of Texas. My reasons for worrying about the sale are 1. Terasen's energy should be controlled by Canada, not a US company. There is no way as energy needs increase, Kinder Morgan will give Canada equal amounts, we will end up paying for our own energy while a foreigh company makes profits 2. The CEO of Kinder Morgan stated the sale would give his company big footprints in the oil sands of Canada. That does not sound like he plans to be fair to Canadian consumers 3. With limited energy at high costs we will not be able to be competite 4.The CEO who will be taking over was CEO of Enron, now disgraced, and that is where we are supposed to place our trust. Please do not approve the sale Sincerely Maryam Murat-Khan A concerned citizen
From: Morley Brown Sent: Sunday, August 28, :53 AM Subject: gas Gas is ours, lumber is ours, oil is ours.
From: Pollyanne Moorman Sent: Sunday, August 28, :01 PM Subject: selling our power to the states No do not do this. Leave our resources in Canada in the control of Canadians. We do not need to give everything away to the USA. Pollyanne Moorman
From: Seddon Sent: Sunday, August 28, :26 PM Subject: re;sale of Terasen Gas AS A TAX PAYER OF B.C. I STRONGLY OBJECT TO THE SELLING OF TERASEN AS TO AN AMERICAN COMPANY.
From: Rennie Holley Sent: Sunday, August 28, :53 PM Subject: Terasen Sale In my opinion, the sale of Terasen to an American company should not be approved. I appreciate the opportunity for my voice to be heard. BC citizen, Rennie Holley -- Rennie Holley Bionic Woman at home and in good humour
From: Sent: To: Subject: Sara Taherzadeh Sunday, August 28, :03 PM Commission Secretary BCUC:EX Rejection of Terasen Gas purchase by Kinder Morgan Dear Sir or Madam. I want to register my rejection of the purchase of Terasen Gas by a US company, Kinder Morgan. Please register my opposition and have it documented for the future hearing. Thank You! Sara Taherzadeh Vancouver, BC 1
From: Sent: To: Subject: Sharyn "siggy" Sigurdur Sunday, August 28, :46 PM Commission Secretary BCUC:EX Terasen and Texas Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing in order to share my deepest concern regarding the sale of Terasen Inc. to Kinder Morgan Inc., which you will soon be asked to approve. Since the implementation of the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, I have witnessed the increasing loss of control over the country s energy resources and its infrastructures. From the elimination of the 25-year contingency reserve provision, to the implementation of the proportional sharing provision, most of Canada s energy decisions have resulted in our country losing sovereignty over our resources. This sale will undoubtedly rob B.C. communities of the power to influence future energy decisions in the province. It will also reinforce the view that Canadians are, in effect, becoming tenants in their own land. I urge you to prevent this deal by refusing to ratify it. Administration is keen to highlight, control of energy resources will be the struggle of the future. Canada needs to start preparing for this struggle and defending infrastructures built and paid for by the Canadian public. Sincerely, Sharyn "siggy" Sigurdur Mission British Columbia siggy@ufcw.net Administrator 1
