As the housing market continues to stabilize (MAYBE), a possible trend seems to be re-emerging, the demand to invest in subprime loans. "We are beginning to see the opening up of credit and I think that's a trend that we're going to begin to see," said Brad Friedlander, head portfolio manager for Angel Oak Multi- Strategy Income Fund (ANGLX), a Morningstar rated 5-star fund. But, says Friedlander, it's not the same subprime that triggered the financial crisis. It's "being labeled as subprime when really, that's almost a misnomer," he said. "Right now there is a real misperception of risk like new 'nonprime' as they call it subprime, outside of that pristine box of credit underwriting." With interest rates at historic lows, investors who are looking for higher returns could be searching for a long time. "Fixed income, in general, is in a really tough position, potentially having a really cyclical bear market ahead of itself, over the next several years," said Friedlander. To be resilient from the Federal Reserve's impending interest rate hike, the money manager is looking for opportunities within fixed income including legacy subprime real estate mortgage backed securities. "Most of our attention are in credit and credit investments," Friedlander said. "2015 will mark an inflection year for non-agency mortgage backed securities to make a comeback as a fixture in the fixed income marketplace," said Friedlander. "That's where I think as an investor you can pick up income and you can pick up yield." In this issue

4 Bruce's Comment: The SPY open at yesterday's close traded down, we entered the $20.92, then traded up... closing as a Doji (candlestick indecision). The open in the morning is important... who will step in Bulls or Bears? Typically after a Doji, the direction on the next days open is the direction it (SPY) will move, we will see. You have a lower risk of disease than people born in any other month, according to researchers at Columbia University Medical Center. Sorry, October babies. You have the highest risk of disease. Scientists examined New York City medical databases and found 55 diseases that were linked with the

5 month of birth. "This data could help scientists uncover new disease risk factors," said Nicholas Tatonetti, Ph.D. The researchers plan to repeat their study using data from other locations across the U.S. and abroad to see how birth months affect disease. Previous studies have already linked birth months with risks of disease. A study published in the British Medical Journal found that people born in March and August faced a high risk of Crohn's disease, and a study at Vanderbilt University found that babies born in the fall had a higher risk of asthma. In the current study, 1,688 diseases were compared to the birth dates and medical histories of 1.7 million patients treated at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/CUMC between 1985 and The study ruled out more than 1,600 associations and confirmed 39 links found in previous studies. They also discovered 16 new associations, including nine types of heart disease. In total, 55 links were confirmed after researchers conducted statistical tests to make sure the associations didn't occur by chance. Early spring babies had the highest heart risks, while those born in the fall babies were found to face the highest risk for respiratory and neurological diseases. "It's important not to get overly nervous about these results because even though we found significant associations the overall disease risk is not that great," said Dr. Tatonetti. "The risk related to birth month is relatively minor when compared to more influential variables like diet and exercise."
