Tuesday, 23 February 2010 (Day 2) Capital Market Part B Why Malaysian Capital Market is Special & Unique Course Objectives: This course aims to provide entertaining but practical insights into the unique characteristics of the Malaysian capital market and its activities relative to other developed capital market. This course will examine several aspects of Malaysian and the global capital markets, including private and public financial intermediaries, domestic and global security markets, organized exchanges for stock and bond securities trading and its capitalization structure. Participants will learn the mechanics of the buyside/sell-side, the role of investment bankers, brokers and analyst, the underwriting process, various types of latest financial securities, and other topics that are timely to today s global markets. Participants will also learn about the varying approaches of the market players with emphasis on their unique investment criteria and time horizons. The objective of this course is to provide participants with a working knowledge of the unique characteristics of the local capital market. The ultimate goal is to obtain a level of knowledge of the capital markets that allows the confidence to perform an investor relations job with a new level of effectiveness and efficiency.
