2 Heat health plan for Victoria Primarily for health and community service providers Extreme heat/heatwave DHHS roles & responsibilities Actions before, during & after extreme heat
3 Extreme heat and heatwave Heatwave is a period of abnormally and uncomfortably hot weather that could impact on human health, community infrastructure and services. Bureau of Meteorology refers to a heatwave as three days or more of high maximum and minimum temperatures that is unusual for a specific location The Heat Health Plan defines extreme heat as the minimum mean temperature that is likely to impact on the health of the community Heat Health Temperature Thresholds.
4 Weather forecast districts Heat health threshold defined as mean (24-hour average) temperature: 30 C or above for southern Victoria 32 C or above for mid and north-east Victoria 34 C for Mallee district.
