2 Overview OBOR locations aligned with Cunningham Lindsey s 21st century economic plan for global trade is essentially a mega infrastructure project with a focus on transportation and energy. This initiative, known as One Belt, One Road (OBOR), is focused on joining the economies of Europe and Asia, along with Africa and Oceania. This unique and extraordinary project seeks to link to Europe via development of overland economic corridors coupled with efficient and secure maritime transport routes. The overland Belt has a heavy emphasis on infrastructure development including railway and road connections. Other significant infrastructure such as power generation, mining & energy, and telecommunications networks are also the subject of major development. For the maritime Road the development of ports and transport hubs across Indo-Pacific is key. This includes acquisition, construction and operation of port facilities in countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Kenya and Oman, amongst others. To give an idea of the scale and scope of the initiative, it is estimated by that OBOR will involve 65 plus countries covering a combined population exceeding 4.4 billion people. To support this, s banks are providing massive funding for Chinese enterprises to develop and operate along the economic corridors being developed. alone has pledged US$125 billion in financing to develop these corridors on both land and sea, across seven key regional operating spheres: Africa Russia Central Asia South Asia Eastern Europe South East Asia Middle East As we enter 2018, infrastructure development in all these regions is moving rapidly and on a significant scale. Although projects are currently dominated by transport, energy and telecommunications, there is growing focus on other sectors such as health and education. This team has specific capability in handling claims from CAR/EAR/DSU. Agricultural products from Europe can be delivered to with a relatively short transit time. Our SPG members can act almost instantly and are aware of the various legal regimes of the countries crossed and the various conventions applicable in the carriage by rail. Ringo had handled some major losses over 10s of million USD like a flood loss of steel mill project in Taiwan, metro construction losses in Taiwan and Singapore, an EAR & DSU loss in a combined cycle power project in Taiwan. Ben Price is based in London and is the Head of Operations for MCL Global which comprises of 600+ adjusters worldwide. He has over 30 years experience within the insurance industry and specialises in the formulation and assembly of loss adjusting solutions for insurance programmes across the world., particularly in the construction and infrastructure sector. Ben maintains a constant interaction with the Groups worldwide resources and applies most skills to each loss and individual programme. Stephen Hope is an Executive Director for Asia Pacific and spends his time between Asia and Australia and also heads up our Mining and Resources Specialist Practice Group. Stephen has over 30 years experience and is recognised internationally as a leading industry expert, having spoken at technical forums and offering thought leadership. His claims experience takes him to most countries in Asia to deal with a wide range of matters. In addition to individual loss instructions he has managed numerous losses arising from regional catastrophes including the 1999 earthquake in Taiwan, 2002 typhoon in Guam and the 2004 tsunami in Japan. Nick Hide is based in Dubai and heads up our Power Specialist Practise Group as well as Regional Engineering Director. He has over 20 years experience in the power generation, downstream petrochemical and heavy engineering sector across Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Nick is also a Chartered Engineer and has specialist knowledge of dealing with large scale coal, gas and nuclear power generation losses on both CAR/EAR and operational policies. Ton Schox is based in the Netherlands and is the Specialist Practice Group leader for Marine as well as Head of Marine, Continental Europe. As a surveyor he specialises in Cargo claims (Perishables Foodstuff, Dry/Liquid Bulk and general cargo), Marine Liability (Carriers, Ports & Terminals) and Specialist Investigations (Fraud & Theft, Risk Management, Risk Inspections & Warehouse Inspections.
