Research Technical Services, Ltd. has been serving the Insurance Industry for over 25 years. Information services are necessary to provide the insurance professionals with a series of tools to make effective business decisions. Our objectives are: 1. Provide the insurance company with the highest quality product available. 2. Reward the Field Rep. / IC / Trainee s by paying a fee based on published rates charged. Field Auditors / Inspectors know what fee they will receive on the cases that they handle, based on the client charges shown on the case detail or program limits. Fees are paid twice monthly, and are based on a percentage (%) as follows: NEW Rep. EXPERIENCED Rep. SPECIAL/SENIOR Rep. SPECIAL PROJECT 40-50% 45-53% 50-56% FLAT RATE EXAMPLE: Audit at $82.00 x 53% fee = $43.46 per billed hour Small Business Reports at $69.50 x 53% fee = $ $1.50 per photo Full Business Survey at $82.00 x 53% = $43.46 per billed hour + $1.50 per photo Enclosed in your Field Rep. / I.C. package is a set of Guidelines for handling business. If you are still interested in applying for the position, you will need to download, sign, and return the following forms (available on the website). 1. Applicant Experience Worksheet 2. Attachment A Field Representative / Independent Contractor Data Worksheet 3. W-9 Standard request for Taxpayer ID 4. Contractor Agreement (Only takes effect upon acceptance by RTS) Prior to acceptance, you will be required to complete a short Audit and/or Test Inspection. An agreed rate will be established based on qualifications. Work will be slow initially. Experience indicates that it takes a few weeks to acquire a sufficient volume. 4 PREMIUM AUDITS Worker s Compensation Audits General Liability Audits Annual Contractor Quarterly Garage Liability Audits Commercial Fleet Audits Terminated Policy RESEARCH TECHNICAL SERVICES provides an alternative to the expensive and sometimes less than receptive auditing services available. Audit Managers deserve a service that can respond quickly and provide the current status data on all assigned audits. R T S uses experienced auditors for the Audit Service Unit. Auditors are strategically located within each state. Being familiar with a territory, auditors are more efficient, require less travel, and from area experience they usually detect classification errors more quickly. RTS AUDITORS keep customers advised on the status of audits with PROGRESS REPORTS. Any problem or delay affecting the completion of the audit in 30 DAYS are reported. TIME SERVICE standards have been established to insure audits are successfully completed within a 45 DAY LIMIT. We strive to complete audits in the 21 to 30 day range to give the customer more time for processing. PREMIUM AUDITS

PRODUCT SERVICES GUIDELINES Research Technical Services was established to provide the insurance industry and other businesses with a competitively priced, concise and professional service for making business and underwriting decisions. RTS SERVES THREE (3) MAIN INSURANCE DEPARTMENTS: II. SERVICE AREA A. Commercial Underwriting B. Premium Audits (W/C & G/L) C. Self-Insured Funds, Pools, and Trusts (Business will only be assigned to qualified representatives.) Area assignment is by county/area. Assignments are received and sorted by area. The Field Rep / IC / Trainee is responsible for all communities in their assigned counties unless special arrangements are made. As business grows, and services are added, counties/areas can be subdivided as required to properly serve customers. III. WORK FLOW PROCESS Client assignments are received, entered into the system, and forwarded to the Field Rep / IC / Trainee generally on the same day. A due date is assigned based on the client requirements, but not to exceed standards. Assignments received by Field Rep / IC / Trainee should be immediately placed on a completion schedule based on DUE DATE and regular area handling. Completed assignments are to be returned to the RTS Service Center. Special Project assignments will have a set due date which all files must be completed and submitted by. IV. TIME SERVICE STANDARDS Time service standards are established by the customer s requirements. Business will be monitored by DUE DATES. AREA I 15 DAYS (OR 7 days prior to DUE DATE) AREA II 21 DAYS (OR 7 days prior to DUE DATE) NOTE: Audit service standards are based on the ASSIGNMENT WORKABLE DATE.
6 V. QUALITY STANDARDS Commercial Lines / (Customized Services) Minimum standards have been set for each standard of service. Your FIELD REFERENCE GUIDE outlines the standards and provides SURVEY SAMPLES for Commercial Lines Services. Premium Audits Audit service standards follow PAAS, NCCI, and ISO manuals and reference guides. Each state has Insurance Laws we operate within. Special Project work will be completed using specific Guidelines and Bulletins which will be provided to those accepted to audit these programs. VI. ASSIGNMENT TURN-IN / Completed assignments must be forwarded to the Service Center no less than twice (2) per week (Based upon F/T). Completed assignments are not to be held for package shipping. Time service will improve along with Client Support, and in turn, provide more work for the Field Rep / IC / Trainee. VII. CASE REASSIGNMENTS Field Rep / IC / Trainee must review each assignment case received, making sure it is in their assigned area. Notify the Service Center immediately with misdirected assignments for forwarding instruction. VIII. FEE PAYMENT PERIODS Fee payroll close out is as follows: 15 th of each month (First Period) Last day of each month (Second Period) Assignment FEES will not be cleared unless the survey has been forwarded to the CLIENT. There will be no Pre-Pay cases for any reason. FEE CHECKS will normally follow the period close by the 10 th day. ALL EARNINGS are reported to the Field Rep / IC / Trainee and the IRS on Tax Forms W- 2 or 1099 (contractor payments). IX. OTHER Please keep us informed of address or other changes.
