Each project was linked to one of the Foundation s niche charities. PHILANTHROPIC ACTIVITIES Contributing to organizational self-reliance and sustainability The La Capitale Financial Group Foundation is devoted to improving the quality of life of those who need it most, in particular those with an autism spectrum disorder or an intellectual disability and vulnerable seniors. $1.3M DONATED TO 220 ORGANIZATIONS Buzzing... and giggling This past year, La Capitale had 100,000 bees installed on the green roof of its head office building in Quebec City. The honey produced was harvested and sold to staff. All $1,300 in honey sales went toward paying for a therapeutic clown visit under the Dr. Clown Foundation s La Belle Visite program, which is intended for vulnerable and isolated seniors residing in a long-term care facility. Laughter: the best medicine The mission of the Dr. Clown Foundation is to contribute to improving the quality of life of hospitalized children and seniors through the interventions of its therapeutic clowns that combine personal contact, games and imagination. In 2017, Dr. Clown s artists began visiting children with autism. Our foundation supported the tour of public readings of the book featuring the zany adventures of Dr. Sanguine, including four readings to children with special needs. Public reading by the Dr. Clown group at the Cœur-Vaillant-Campanile elementary school in Quebec City
4 Honey from the hives on the La Capitale building s green roof 47% of our people do volunteer work in the community In 2017, numerous corporate activities made it possible to raise nearly $200,000 and donate it to three charities. Through their participation in volunteer activities, nearly half of La Capitale s employees give of their time to help and pass it on. Participants in the Tree Stewardship Event at Horseshoe Park in Mississauga La Capitale Loft at the Videotron Centre Spreading cheer La Capitale goes beyond philanthropic gestures by establishing partnerships that increase the exposure of its brand and put new initiatives in place that, among other things, benefit the organizations and individuals that they serve. By doing so, we provide access to moments of entertainment, which constitute another form of sharing and engagement, a source of happiness for those who really need it. Videotron Centre and Quebec Remparts Through this major partnership, La Capitale is able to be associated with cultural and sporting activities, as well as popular and prestige events, reaching a local, provincial and international clientele. This collaboration makes La Capitale the entertainment venue s third largest partner. The partnership demonstrates our desire to be close to Quebec City residents. Luc Langevin, Illusionist Mutual aid and sharing are values that Luc Langevin believes in. Since they are also among the values on which La Capitale was founded, a true affinity led us to become the presenter of Luc s new show, Maintenant Demain (now tomorrow). And, through this partnership, Luc Langevin has extended his association to ShineBEYOND prizes. La Capitale Recognition Award For the third consecutive year, La Capitale highlights its close proximity to the Quebec public service by recognizing five public service employees for their commitment. In 2017, highlighted the 50th anniversary of the creation of cegeps by awarding a special prize to an active employee within Quebec s network of 48 public colleges.
