Washington, D.C Re: Removal of Parking on 13 th Street, N.W. NOI # TOA Dear Chairperson Turner: Pursuant to the Administrative Procedure Amendment Act of 2000 D.C. LAW (48 DCR 3491 April 20, 2001), the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is required to give written notice of our intent to modify traffic and/or parking requirements. This letter is being forwarded to you for the purpose of notification and solicitation of comments on our intent to implement the following modification(s) in your jurisdiction: Removal of one parking space on 13 th Street, N.W. Currently, 13 th Street is a local roadway with two travel lanes (one on each direction), and parking on both sides. DDOT received a traffic safety concern regarding a mirror replacement in the area of th Street to assist with visibility and sight distance issues for vehicles exiting the alley between Girard Street and Fairmont Street. While DDOT no longer provides mirrors for visibility and sight distance purposes due to reliability issues, in order to better assist with these concerns for the alley DDOT has made an independent decision to remove one parking space to the north of the alley on the west side of the roadway to allow for increased sight distance (in front of th Street).
