2 Membership Fee Policy The membership fees of Sydney Zodiacs Inc. are determined each year by the Committee to encompass the costs associated with the day to day operation of the club. Club fees are decided upon notification of the costs associated with the hire of boats from Dragon Boats NSW Inc. and any incidental charges. Once membership fees have been set by the committee, the membership form for the new membership year can be produced and distributed to members for completion. Any member who fails to pay membership fees when due will not be able to participate in any training sessions or regatta racing until all outstanding membership fees have been paid up to date and their membership has been verified as being current by the responsible committee member. Any fees from a prior year which, at the end of a membership year, remain outstanding will be considered to be fees in arrears. Any funds (membership fees) received by the club will be applied toward any membership fees in arrears before being applied to the current membership year. Any request by a prospective member (or group of members) for a fee reduction or discount must be submitted in writing and addressed to the committee for consideration. The written request must contain full details of the reasons why a discount should be considered. The granting of any discount is solely at the discretion of the committee. The committee is under no obligation to give a reason for not providing a discount or fee reduction to a member or group of members. The Membership Fee Policy has been approved by the committee of Sydney Zodiacs Inc. August 2012 Membership fee for Season Juniors (12 18 years) $180 Adults (18 years +) $255 Payment can be made by EFT into the club bank account (the details of which appear below) or cheque payment to the Club Treasurer or Membership Co-Ordinator. 3 Club Ethos Sydney Zodiacs Inc. is a Sydney based paddling club that embraces a competitive spirit in a supportive environment. Sydney Zodiacs welcomes paddling members between the ages of 12 and 23 years. Adult membership to the club is in a non paddling capacity only, and is at the discretion of the Board of Management. In order that Sydney Zodiacs fully engages with current and prospective members this document aims to present an overview of the objectives of the organisation and the expectations required of its members. Objectives of Sydney Zodiacs Provide a safe, fun and supportive environment for young people to learn the skills of dragon boating and other paddle sports with the opportunity to participate competitively at Local, State, National and International level. Encourage and promote team player attributes, goal setting and resilience techniques. Assist members in reaching their potential. Respect the talent, developmental stage and sporting goals of each person and compliment and encourage those goals with positive and supportive feedback. Promote and Respect the cultural traditions of dragon boat racing. Affiliate, as necessary, with the relevant State and/or National body(s) charged with the promotion and administration of the sport of dragon boat racing. Pursue such commercial arrangements (such as sponsorship and marketing) as are deemed appropriate to further the interests of Sydney Zodiacs Have regard to public interest in its operations. Expectations of club members The club has a level of commitment and standard of behaviour that is expected of all members. This includes: Treating other club members with respect. Respecting members of other dragon boat clubs and those within the dragon boat community. Enabling an environment in which all members can benefit from the skills and advice of the coaches. Participating in other club activities such as fundraising activities and social functions and outings. Participating in regattas as listed in the club season calendar. This calendar is published on the club website. Participation in regattas ensures that the club is well represented at all events. Contributing to the best of your ability in order to make the most of your dragon boating experience. Being aware that your behavior will reflect on the club and as such always maintain appropriate behavior to ensure a strong public image for the club when participating in club activities. Attending training on a regular basis, in line with the club training schedule. Management Sydney Zodiacs The business and activities of Sydney Zodiacs Inc. are to be managed in accordance with the Constitution of the club. This allows for the business and activities of the club to be guided by the Committee elected from the membership. The committee will at all times act in the best interest of the club and will endeavor to be receptive to feedback from the membership. Selection for regattas As a competitive club we encourage and support each member to strive to achieve their personal best in the sport of dragon boat racing. We understand and acknowledge that the capacity and desire to excel differs between people. We also understand that each person will have differing capacities to attend training due to personal commitments and circumstances. The club will strive to always put forward the strongest teams possible at each regatta. We will try to give members as many races as we can and this will often be achieved by entering a number of teams. It is therefore to be expected that if more than one team is entered in a category that one team will be stronger than the other. Team selection will be determined by the Coaching Team according to the following factors: Technique; Strength and Fitness; Training attendance; Completion of required fitness tests (eg erg and water trials); Specific skills ( eg accredited sweeps, strokes ); Team Player attributes (eg positive encouragement, engagement and enthusiasm); Regatta attendance throughout the season; and Boat Balance

I acknowledge that I am familiar with the Club Ethos and the Membership Fee Policy contained within this Membership Application. 3. I acknowledge that participation in the sport of dragon boat racing carries risks and I will not hold liable any officers, representatives, agents, volunteers, instructors, members, or servants of Sydney Zodiacs Inc. for any injury or damage or death howsoever arising out of my participation in any event organised Sydney Zodiacs Inc. whether or not such loss or injury or death shall have been due to any negligent act, breach of duty, default and/or omission on the part of Sydney Zodiacs Inc., its respective officers, representatives, agents, volunteers, instructors, members, or servants. I have voluntarily read and understood this warning and accept and assume the inherent risks in participating in the Sporting Activities. 4. I agree that my details can be used by Sydney Zodiacs Inc. for the purpose of the day-to-day business of Sydney Zodiacs Inc. in any manner as the club sees fit. This may include disclosure of my contact details to any sponsor(s) of the club under any sponsorship arrangement or agreement which the club deems appropriate at the sole discretion of the club. I acknowledge and agree that the information will be disclosed by Sydney Zodiacs Inc. only to pursue its objectives, general business and to provide me with membership services. I understand that I will be able to access the information on request. If the information is not provided my membership application may be rejected. I acknowledge that Sydney Zodiacs Inc. may also use my personal information for the purposes of providing me with promotional material Sydney Zodiacs Inc. s sponsors or third parties. 5. If my application for membership is accepted I will be a member of Sydney Zodiacs Inc.. I acknowledge my membership must be approved by a meeting of the Committee of Sydney Zodiacs Inc. at its sole discretion. I acknowledge that I will be bound by and agree to comply with the rules applying to the Sporting Activities and the constitution, regulations, policies and directions of both Sydney Zodiacs Inc. and DBNSW. 6.Exclusion of Implied Terms: I acknowledge that where I am a consumer of recreational services, as defined by any relevant law, certain terms and rights usually implied into a contract for the supply of goods or services may be excluded. I acknowledge that these implied terms and rights and any liability of Sydney Zodiacs Inc. flowing from them, are expressly excluded to the extent possible by law, by this membership declaration. To the extent of any liability arising, the liability of Sydney Zodiacs Inc. will, at the discretion of the relevant Sydney Zodiacs Inc., be limited in the case of goods, to the replacement, repair or payment of the cost of replacing the goods and in the case of services, the resupply of the services or payment of the cost of having the services supplied again. 7. Release and Indemnity: In consideration of Sydney Zodiacs Inc. accepting my application for membership I, to the extent permitted by law: (a) release and will release Sydney Zodiacs Inc. from all Claims that I may have or may have had but for this release arising from or in connection with my membership and/or participation in any Sporting Activities; and (b) indemnify and will keep indemnified Sydney Zodiacs Inc. in respect of any Claim by any person arising as a result of or in connection with my membership and/or participation in any Sporting Activities.

I will immediately notify Sydney Zodiacs Inc. in writing of any change to my medical condition, fitness or ability to participate. I understand and accept Sydney Zodiacs Inc. will continue to rely upon this declaration as evidence of my fitness and ability to participate. 9. Swimming Ability: I confirm that my ability to swim at least fifty (50) metres when fully dressed in paddling clothing is correctly indicated on page one (1) of this application form. 10. Medical Treatment: I consent to receiving any medical treatment that the Sydney Zodiacs Inc. reasonably considers necessary or desirable for me during my participation in Sporting Activities. I also agree to reimburse Sydney Zodiacs Inc. for any costs or expenses incurred in providing me with medical treatment. 11. Right to Use Image: I acknowledge and consent to photographs and electronic images being taken of me during my participation in any Sporting Activities. I acknowledge and agree that such photographs and electronic images are owned by Sydney Zodiacs Inc. and it may use the photographs for promotional or other purposes without my further consent being necessary. Further, I consent Sydney Zodiacs Inc. using my name, image, likeness and also my performance in the Sporting Activities, at any time, by any form of media, to promote the Sporting Activities. 12. Severance: If any provision of this membership declaration is invalid or unenforceable in any jurisdiction, the phrase or clause is to be read down for the purpose of that jurisdiction, if possible, so as to be valid and enforceable. If the phrase or clause cannot be so read down it will be severed to the extent of the invalidity or unenforceability. Such severance does not affect the remaining provisions of this membership declaration or affect the validity or enforceability of it in any other jurisdiction. 13. I have provided the information required and signed this membership declaration. I warrant that all information provided is true and correct. I acknowledge this membership declaration cannot be amended. If I do amend it, my application will be null and void and cannot be accepted by Sydney Zodiacs Inc.
