Statute of Limitations 1980 limits the bringing of an action to within 3 yrs from the time damage was known to have been sustained, but courts may use discretion and take circumstances into account. Accident report books do not usually contain dates of birth to allow accurate retention periods to be fixed, so consider keeping for blanket period to allow all pupils entered to have reached 22 nd birthday COSHH 6.4.
