1 Florida Public Service Commission RATE CASE OVERVIEW J A N U A R Y Petition for rate increase by Florida City Gas D O C K E T N O G U On August 23, 2017, Florida City Gas filed a petition with the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC or Commission) for a rate increase. Florida City Gas currently provides natural gas to approximately 108,000 residential, commercial, and industrial natural gas customers in Florida s Miami-Dade, Brevard, St. Lucie, Palm Beach, Glades, Hendry, Broward, and Indian River Counties. Q U E S T I O N S & A N S W E R S 1 Is there an opportunity for public input on this rate case? 3 When was Florida City Gas last approved rate increase? Yes. As part of the evaluation process for Florida City Gas rate request, the Commission staff will conduct service hearings to allow customer feedback about Florida City Gas and the process by which the company s petition is being evaluated. Customer comments, written and oral, will be taken into consideration when the Commission reaches a decision. Commissioners will attend and participate during the hearings. Florida City Gas last rate case was in S E R V I C E H E A R I N G S 2 Why is Florida City Gas requesting a rate increase? Florida City Gas has been earning at or below its authorized range. Florida City Gas identified three factors that led to its requested rate increase: increased capital spending due to increased state and federal safety regulations, need for additional pipeline capacity, and development and training of a new work force. If cancelled, notice of meeting cancellation will be provided on the Commission s website ( under Hot Topics found on the home page.
