1 International AFIR/ERM Colloquium 2019 Florence, Italy May 21 24, 2019 Innovating Actuarial Research on Financial Risk and ERM CALL FOR PAPERS Innovating Actuarial Research is the key- focus of the conceptual framework that the Colloquium Scientific Committee considered to select the Topics proposed to AFIR/ERM Section members, the international actuarial community and other academics, experts and professionals who are interested in the fields of Finance, Investments and Enterprise Risk Management for the International AFIR/ERM Colloquium The theme is interwoven through a series of plenary and concurrent sessions, insightful keynote addresses, and group discussions designed to identify and leverage key trends of research and new technologies to create a strategic advantage for Actuarial Science and the Profession. TOPICS 1) Sustainable Value Creation. 2) Hedging Extreme Risks. 3) Facing Non-Insurable Risks. 4) Investments in an Environmental, Social, Governance Framework. 5) Systemic Financial Risks. 6) Enterprise Risk Management in non Financial Sectors. 7) Fintech - Data Science in Financial Risk Management. To assist the Scientific Committee in planning the program, authors are kindly requested to complete the Expression of interest submitting a paper Form, attached herewith (Annex A) and return it by closing date January 15, 2019 to the address secretary@actuary-isoa.com. SPEAKERS CORNER The Colloquium Scientific Programme features the Speaker s Corner where additional topics papers can be presented in concurrent sessions. Drafts of research projects, new ideas, new perspectives can be discussed in organized groups. SUBMISSION PROCESS - All submissions should be in English - Papers should be between 5 and 30 pages in length (excluding tables and appendices). - Abstracts should be 200 words long - Detailed instructions for authors will be forthcoming as we receive the Expression of interest submitting a paper Form - In case of more Authors, please specify the contact Author: Name, His/Her address and Cell. Presenter: Andres Villegas, Australia 2) ERM and QRM in Life Insurance: an actuarial primer Presenter: Ermanno Pitacco, Italy BURSARIES AWARDS Two Bursaries in memory of Giovanna Ferrara will be awarded to young researchers in Actuarial Science to contribute towards the cost of their participation in the International AFIR/ERM Colloquium The Bursaries amount to Euro 2500,00 each and are funded by the Giovanna family and Nino Savelli remembering the professional and educational activities that Giovanna carried out in several Africa' Countries. Candidates have to fit the following eligibility requirements: 1. to be born in an AFRICAN Country, 2. to be aged under 30 on 31 May,2019, 3. to be an Actuarial Science Researcher or Assistant Professor in an African University or Institution. The Bursary Application Form, attached herewith, Annex B, has to be completed and returned by the closing date, January 15, 2019, to the address BEST PAPER AWARDS Every Author of an accepted full paper will be eligible to be considered for the Best Paper Award. Prizes will be assigned to the best papers, selected by the Scientific Committee. 2

3 The wave of technological innovations and financial risk evolution gives a new focus to the scientific research on actuarial science. The Colloquium 2019 gives the opportunity to strengthen the aims of the AFIR-ERM Section, to discuss new issues and learn how actuaries can harness the power of technology while investigating financial, environmental, social and governance risks.
