3 W H A T I S B R I T A I N S H E A L T H I E S T W O R K P L A C E? One of the largest initiatives in the UK that seeks to understand the impact of employee health and engagement on productivity. A free organisational health risk assessment for employers and individual health assessments for employees, helping organisations to: Identify and target health risks Raise awareness of wellbeing, health, and impact of behaviours Share best practice 90% of repeating companies had improved the health and wellbeing facilities and interventions offered to staff In three years, the study has had an increase of 195% in qualifying companies 79% of repeating companies showed an improvement in their Healthiest Company score 53% of repeating employees became healthier year-on-year* Since 2013, 176 unique companies and more than 60,000 individuals have taken part in the survey resulting in 7.8 million data points * Evidenced by a reduced Vitality Age Gap, a validated measure of the gap between a person s chronological age and their health age after adjusting for the impact of lifestyle behaviours and clinical indicators. H E A L T H A G E % O F P E O P L E A T R I S K UK employees had an average health age of: 3 years and 10 months older than their chronological age. 20.9% BMI Body mass adjusted for waist circumference 49.8% Nutrition Not eating five fruit and veg 4.1% Mental wellbeing Symptoms of severe depression This gap is worse for: Men Employees in their 40s, 50s and 60s Lower-paid workers 35.5% Physical activity 150 minutes or less moderate to high-intensity sessions per week 37.3% Smoking Current and former smokers (Quit less than 15 years ago) Data has shown that there is a relationship between physical and mental wellbeing. 35.7% Chronic conditions At least one chronic condition 18.6% Alcohol Exceeding recommended units (three for men, two for women) W H A T W O R R I E S E M P L O Y E E S?
