1 PBM Market Update PBM Economic Releases Yesterday, Mortgages and Treasuries traded lower as Consumer Confidence came in at a 18 year high with many giving the nod to economic strength and optimism in the labor market. The report was expected to show a reading vs. the actual CaseShiller House Price Index rose only 5.8% from the +6.0%, the first time its been below 6.0% all year. This reading may suggest the start of home prices coming down, or was the reading a result the slow time of the year. Mortgages ended the day down 2+ ticks and the 10 year finished down 8 ticks at 3.119%. U.S. Equities rebound huge yesterday with the Dow closing up points and the S&P ending up points. This morning, Mortgages are trading down 5 ticks right out of the gate with ADP Employment report showed that 227k jobs were added to the Private Sector vs. +187k, just reinforcing a strong labor market. Other news this morning showed Mortgage Applications from last week fell 2.5% after rising 4.9% the prior week. Purchases were down 1.5% and Refinances dropped 3.8% as the average 30 year fixed rate stayed at 5.11%. Also on tap this morning we have Chicago PMI at 7 am. The 10 year is at 3.151%.
