The business license will not be issued until the Applicant has updated their TPT License with the State. Contractors must submit a copy of their Arizona State Registrar of Contractor s License. If you are a corporation or limited liability company, please provide a copy of your Certificate of Good Standing and a copy of your Federal Employer Identification Number. If registered trade name, please submit a copy of your Certificate of Trade Name. If liquor is involved, you must apply with the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control. The fee for your business license will be an additional $100.00 per year. The owner shall inform the City of Maricopa of any changes in his/her business activities or uses thirty (30) days prior to such change. If the business becomes inactive, you are responsible to notify the City in writing that you are no longer conducting business in the City. Attach a copy of the Pinal County Health Card if you are selling edible foodstuffs. The business license must be on display in the licensee s place of business. A business license must be issued within 45 days from receipt of Application. A license must be issued before you can lawfully engage in business in Maricopa. Issuance of a Business License by the City of Maricopa shall in no way be construed as permission to operate a business activity in violation of any other law or regulation to which such activity may be subject. ATTENTION APPLICANT: Issuance of a business license by the City of Maricopa does not permit full occupancy of the proposed location. The applicant is required to contact building safety for necessary permits/inspections. City of Maricopa Business License Fee Schedule: The annual Business License Transaction Fee is $50.00. The fee is prorated to ½ a year. All licenses after June will be $25.00. All licenses expire December 31 st of each year. The license renewal fee is $50.00 and must be paid prior to January 15 th to avoid a penalty fee. Any person applying for a new pawnbroker license shall pay an additional application fee of $1,000.00. Pawnbrokers shall pay an additional business license renewal fee of $500.00. REGULATORY BILL OF RIGHTS This past legislative session (Fiftieth Legislature, First Regular Session), the Arizona Legislature passed Senate Bill 1598. This Regulatory Bill of Rights went into effect on July 20, 2011 (with full implementation on December 31, 2012). The rights afforded private regulated parties under the new law are provided below. A.R.S. 9-832: REGULATORY BILL OF RIGHTS TO ENSURE FAIR AND OPEN REGULATION BY CITIES, A PERSON: Is eligible for reimbursement of fees and other expenses if the person prevails by adjudication on the merits against a city in a court proceeding regarding a city decision as provided in A.R.S. 12-348. Is entitled to receive information and notice regarding inspections as provided in A.R.S. 9-833 (effective June 30, 2012). Is entitled to have a city not base a licensing decision in whole or in part on licensing conditions or requirements that are not specifically authorized as provided in A.R.S. 9-834. May have a city approve or deny the person s license application within a predetermined period of time as provided in A.R.S. 9-835 (effective December 31, 2012). Is entitled to receive written or electronic notice from a city on denial of a license application (effective December 31, 2012). o That justifies the denial with references to the statute, ordinance, regulation, Delegation Agreement or authorized substantive policy statement on which the denial is based as provided in A.R.S. 9-835. o That explains the applicants right to appeal the denial as provided in A.R.S. 9-835.
