RSCWS also presented four Air Coolers to the Govt. Primary School in Railway Colony Chandigarh to save the small children from scorching heat. A Medical Seminar was also held on Heart Care in Old Age for the benefit and awareness of the Senior Citizens during the Quarterly Meeting & AGM on 21 st April, 2018. REPORT OF SOCIAL WELFARE ACTIVITIES OF RSCWS APRIL 2018 RAILWAY SENIOR CITIZENS WELFARE SOCITY PRESENTS TWO STRETCHERS TO RAILWAY STATION & FOUR AIR COOLERS TO PRIMARY SCHOOL CHANDIGARH CALL UPON RAILWAYS TO IMPROVE HEALTH CARE FACILITES FOR PENSIONERS AT CHANDIGARH Railway Senior Citizens Welfare Society (RSCWS) Chandigarh, recently presented two folding stretchers to Railway Station Chandigarh to fast track carrying the injured persons in case of train accidents and other exigencies, as part of their social welfare activities. Earlier two Wheel Chairs were presented for the sick & the handicapped patients. Four Room Coolers were presented by RSCWS to the Railway Primary School, Railway Colony, Chandigarh, to provide relief to the small children from the scorching heat due to small and congested classrooms with low lying roofs. These presentations were made during the Annual General Body Meeting of RSCWS held on 21 st April, 2018 at Govt. Museum & Art Gallery Auditorium, Sector- 10, Chandigarh, which was attended by nearly 100 senior citizens of the Tri-city Chandigarh, Panchkula & Mohali. A glimpse of the audience at the AGM of RSCWS on 21 st April, 2018 RSCWS called upon the Railways for requisite improvements in health care facilities by the Railways, at Chandigarh for the nearly 7000 Railway Beneficiaries (including railway employees, Pensioners and their dependents residing in and around the Tr-city) including posting of full time regular Doctors with requisite powers to approve emergency cases for treatment in Specialised empanelled Hospitals and to refer other serious cases to the empanelled Hospitals. 4
The Meeting also called for effective steps by the Railways to upgrade the building of the Railway Primary School Chandigarh by providing more classrooms, raising roof height and size of existing classrooms and improving other facilities therein. The meeting was followed by a Medical Seminar on Heart Problems & their Management in Old Age. The Seminar was conducted by Dr. Arun Kochar, Cardiac Specialist from Fortis Hospital Mohali. A cultural programme was also conducted in which senior members sang a number of patriotic old songs.
