BACKGROUND Trip Reduction Program was created in 1988 to reduce air pollution Employers of 50+ must participate Survey employees annually; update plan within 5 weeks of receiving survey results Plan is the company s list of incentives County staff confirms implementation
ORDINANCE MEASURES For major employers or schools who do not meet a reduction goal in the second year of the program, the plan shall contain any two of the following measures, and shall contain any four of the following measures when a reduction goal is not met in any year thereafter. Maricopa County Ordinance P-7, Section 7, Paragraph A) 3) a) 5
ORDINANCE MEASURES 1. Prize drawings for alternative mode users 2. Incentives for new alternative mode users and those who move closer to the worksite 3. Guaranteed ride home for alternative mode users 4. Preferential parking for carpools / vanpools 5. Vanpool subsidy of at least 50% 6. Bus or other alternative mode subsidy at least 50% 7. On-site daycare 8. Showers and lockers 9. A pay for parking program 10.A telecommuting program that seeks to achieve a target reduction (10%) 11.Compressed work weeks that seeks to achieve a target reduction (10%) Which does your plan include?
ANALYZING SURVEY RESULTS Check your Response Rate < 60% may = penalty SOV rate tells percentage of trips/miles being driven alone Current Mode Splits tells what modes your employees are using now
ANALYZING SURVEY RESULTS Average Commute Distance and Time can appeal to desire to save Changing Your Commute Mode tells what they might do instead of driving alone Using an Alternate Mode tells what incentives will encourage your employees
YOUR EXISTING PLAN Start with last year s plan for consistency If you want to make changes to last year s plans, you can! Talk with supervisor, coworkers Contact your VM Business Services Rep for advice Check survey results

COMPLETING THE PLAN Enter the individual prize value for each drawing and the total annual value FOR ALL SITES COMBINED More frequent drawings encourage participation best Most common prize value is $25
Section 2 similar to other drawings, but with differences in application New AMU/Move Closer can be a prize drawing or a gimme Best AMU sometimes used if no New AMUs sign up COMPLETING THE PLAN

REVISING THE PLAN Upon receipt of plan, County emails you a confirmation County staff reviews plan and contacts you if they have questions Most common problems: missing signatures, illegible handwriting County may ask you to explain changes in incentives, budget, employee counts Your Business Services Representative can help!
