The Fd and drink supply chain wrkfrce strategy grup 1 cnducted a member survey frm 9 Nvember until 18 December 2017 t gauge future wrkfrce issues in light f the UK s departure frm the Eurpean Unin. This was t plug a number f gaps in ur evidence base. Survey Outline The drp ff rate fr cmpleting this survey was relatively high. The majrity f respndents were frm the fd and drink manufacturing industry (49%), fllwed by fd retail (17%) and agriculture and hrticulture (16%). Other respndents wrked in fd ingredients, flavuring, packaging, testing and fd imprt/service prvisin. Half f respndents f the questin said that the average age f emplyees in their wrkfrce was 35-44 years ld. This was fllwed by an average age f 45-55 years ld (22% f respndents) and then 25-34 years ld (24% f respndents). What is the average age f peple within these rles in yur business? The majrity f respndents f the questin (55%) said that the average age f emplyees wrking in engineering was 35-44 years ld. This was the same case fr emplyees wrking in back ffice functins, sales, R&D and new prduct develpment. While almst a third said the same fr emplyees wrking in supply chain/lgistics, technical/quality cntrl, factry wrkers as well as prcess peratives.
