The Persnal Finance Sciety s financial adviser develpment prgramme previusly knwn as Aspire has been incrprated int the Aspire Apprenticeship Prgrammes, which nw caters fr the whle insurance and financial planning prfessin. This training is still very much available and the Financial Adviser (Level 4) apprenticeship training is an integral part f ur release 1 which has a September 2018 in-take. Signing Up Hw d I sign up my apprentice(s)? Simply visit www.cii.c.uk/apprenticeships and cmplete the expressin f interest frm. The frm is designed t be easy t cmplete and nly takes a few minutes depending upn hw many apprentices yu want t register. What is invlved in signing up? There are three simple steps t enrl yur apprentices t start their learning jurney 1. Register Cmplete the expressin f interest frm at www.cii.c.uk/apprenticeships. 2. Applicatin - An apprved training prvider will cntact yu t discuss hw: > Aspire Apprenticeships Prgrammes can wrk fr yur business > what supprt is required frm yu as an emplyer > and t talk t the nminated apprentice(s). Fllwing these cnversatins an applicatin frm will need t be cmpleted by the apprentice(s). 3. Onbarding Successful apprentices are placed int reginal chrts and are ready t be enrlled and start their training prgramme. T&Cs and funding arrangements are finalised between the training prvider and yur business. Rlling in-takes run thrughut the year, starting in January, May and September. What is the cmmitment/what will be expected f emplyers? As an emplyer yu will be expected t supprt yur apprentice t attend 20% ff-the-jb training within their nrmal wrking hurs acrss the duratin f the apprenticeship. Off-the-jb training is time spent learning which will cntribute t the develpment f an apprentice s skills, knwledges and cmpetencies and can be delivered in the frm f nline training, shadwing, mentring, research, writing assignments etc. Yur allcated training prvider will wrk with yu as the emplyer t identify hw yu can cntribute twards ff-the-jb training. As an emplyer it is als best practice t assign a mentr t supprt with nging learning, this can be, but desn t have t be, a direct line manager but shuld be smene wh can assist during the apprenticeship and be available t supprt learning. There is als an expectatin t attend regular review meetings and prvide feedback n the apprentice s prgress. 4
Csts in invlved Hw much will it cst my business? The cst f the apprenticeship training itself is standard acrss each f the devlved administratins; England, Wales, Sctland and Nrthern Ireland. Fr instance, in England the Insurance Practitiner (level 3) training csts 9000. Hwever, hw much f this cst is actually paid by an emplyer varies depending n whether the business pays the apprenticeship levy r nt. In England: Thse businesses with an annual wage bill f less than 3m per year, d nt pay the levy and are eligible fr 90% c-funding (up t the funding band maximum) frm the gvernment. Meaning that fr the Insurance Practitiner (level 3) training, an eligible emplyer wuld pay 900 rather than the full 9000. Nn-levy paying firms will als be eligible fr the additinal supprt relating t apprentices aged 16-18 (the additinal 1,000 in gvernment funding) and thse apprentices aged 19-24 wh have previusly been in care r has a Lcal Educatin, Health and Care plan (additinal 1,000 in gvernment funding) Fr emplyers with fewer than 50 peple, the apprenticeship training will be 100% funded by the gvernment, if n the first day f the apprenticeship the apprentice is aged 16-18 years ld r aged 19-24 years ld and has either: an educatin, health & care plan r has been in the care f the lcal authrity. Whilst thse businesses wh have an annual wage bill f mre than 3m per year, pay the apprenticeship levy and will need t meet 100% f the training cst frm this fund.
