A sick note is valid if it has: The healer s name, address and qualifications Patient s name, date and time of examination Description of illness (with patient s consent) and how long patient is booked off Healer s signature In terms of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), a valid medical certificate must be issued and signed by a medical practitioner who is registered with a professional council established by an act of parliament. 4WAYS TO PAY Not all our branches accept cash, here are some easier ways to pay your premium. YOUR PREMIUM 1 2 3 EASY PAY STOP ORDER DEBIT ORDER Pay your premiums with cash at any EasyPay pay point. No additional fees will be added to your premium. Pay points are open on weekends and public holidays (during retail hours). Make sure you show your legal policy card when paying for your legal policy and your funeral plan policy card when paying for your funeral plan. This facility is only available to government and municipal employees. If you are interested in changing from a cash payment to stop-order, SMS ADJUST to 34453 and we will call you back (SMSs cost R1.50). It is the most reliable way to make sure that your premium is paid and that you are legally covered. This is when the payment for your premium is collected straight from your bank account. It is the most convenient way to pay your premium, as you will always be up to date with payments and never have to wait in a queue and your premiums will always be paid on time. When changing to debit order, ensure that you give the correct deduction date and that there is money in your account on the deduction date to avoid bank penalties. If the deduction date falls on a public holiday or a Sunday, the deduction date will be moved to the closest business day. 4POST OFFICE You can also pay at the Post Office, but remember that the Post Office charges an additional transaction fee, which is currently R12.45*. This is Scorpion Legal Protection s least advised method of payment because of the additional fee. *Please note that this transaction fee increases from time to time, in line with the Post Office s tariff charges.
