Insured s Name The mortgagee requires that the insured s name on the policy be exactly as shown on the deed. Many endorsements are issued to add the husband s middle initial and the wife s complete name. Most property is jointly owned by the husband and wife and both should be shown on the policy. b. Some mortgages require a legal description in addition to the number and street name or section, township and range. Zip codes should be included in the mailing address of the insured and mortgage. c. Mortgage s Name The mortgagee or servicing agency is very particular about how their name is shown on the policy. Many servicing agencies service policies for the mortgage. If at all possible, it would be well to check with the mortgage to determine the correct name and address of the mortgage and whether the policy is to be serviced by a servicing agency. d. Loan Numbers Most mortgagees require a loan number to be shown on the policy. e. Escrow Accounts Most mortgagees maintain an escrow account for insurance premiums and will pay the renewal premium on the policy. UR-5
