As sn as a custmer is cnnected t ECN, it will immediately begin t see cst reductins in its mnthly telephne bill. ECN guarantees that custmers will make substantial savings n fixed-t-mbile, lcal, natinal and internatinal calls. Carrier Grade Vice Quality ECN guarantees 99.73% uptime fr vice services with autmated failver in the event f equipment failure. ECN intercnnects with the incumbent peratrs, enabling it t prvide carrier grade vice quality n bth inbund and utbund calls. ECN s vice ffering eliminates the quality prblems typically assciated with cnventinal VIP/LCR slutins such as delay, signal lss, drpped calls etc. Simple installatin Jining ECN s netwrk is quick and easy. ECN prvides efficient n-site installatin and activatin with minimal disruptin t business peratins and infrastructure. Once a custmer is cnnected t ECN it dials as usual the nly change is that its calls are ruted via ECN. All installatin activities are carefully planned and apprved in advance. Service at the Highest Level ECN has built a state-f-the-art Netwrk Operatins Centre (NOC), which mnitrs ECN s natinal vice and data netwrk. The NOC mnitrs active and passive netwrk parameters t anticipate, lcalise and islate prblems n the netwrk. When prblems d ccur the activities f frnt-line persnnel are crdinated and despatched frm a single cntrl pint based in Rsebank, Jhannesburg. The NOC is als capable f prviding an up t the minute, real-time visual summary f the status f the entire netwrk. Infrmative Call Reprting ECN s telephne management system (TMS) prvides custmers with real time accunt infrmatin. The TMS is accessed via an easy-t-use, web-based interface. Cnfigurable reprts cvering billing, invicing, savings and diagnstics are available t users via a web interface. It is the perfect tl t help custmers easily mnitr and manage their cmpany s telephne csts. 3

Prducts and Services Vice Services Exchange Lines ECN prvides fixed-line access services between a custmer s premises and ECN s netwrk. Access circuits are available in speeds frm 256Kbps upwards. Vice Terminatin ECN ffers lcal, natinal, fixed-t-mbile and internatinal vice terminatin at tariffs that vary depending n the destinatin, distance, length, day and time f call. Value Added Services ECN ffers a brad range f vice-based value-added services including fax-2-email, email-2-fax, cnference calling, interactive vice respnse, limit management and vicemail. Data Services Leased Lines ECN prvides bth fixed and wireless natinal and internatinal leased lines in speeds ranging frm 64 Kbps up t 155 Mbps. Leased lines are fixed cnnectins between lcatins, which are secure and uncntended. Leased lines are ur principal data transmissin service and include Diginet, MetrLAN, ATM, and internatinal private line circuits. Internet Access ECN prvides lcal and internatinal Internet access and bandwidth thrugh its centrally lcated Internet exchange service in speeds ranging frm 64kbps up t 155 mbps. Our Internet access and bandwidth services are available via DSL and leased lines. We als prvide a range f cnfiguratins based n the cntentin rati (e.g. 1:1 r 1:4) and the rati f lcal versus Internatinal bandwidth (e.g. 25% internatinal r 100% internatinal). Managed Netwrk Services ECN ffers a brad range f value-added services that cmplement ur Internet access services including, e- mail, dmain name services, anti-virus/anti-spam, web page hsting, intrusin detectin and preventin, system mnitring, MPLS virtual private netwrks (VPN s) and cnverged multi-media netwrks. 4

Netwrk and Systems Netwrk Overview ECN perates a cnverged next generatin netwrk ver a number f mediums including cpper, fibre and micrwave. ECN has pted nt t build its wn netwrk, but rather t lease netwrk capacity frm the incumbent peratrs. ECN s fcus is n prviding leading-edge services via its IP-based NGN. The bjective being t prvide ur custmers with a next-generatin ne netwrk many services apprach as ppsed t a legacy TDM ne netwrk ne service design. Switching Netwrk ECN has bilateral intercnnect agreements in place with Telkm, Vdacm, MTN and Cell C. Telkm has divided Suth Africa int seven intercnnectin znes in which new entrants may intercnnect. ECN has cnnected t Telkm s pints f intercnnect in Jhannesburg, Pretria, Durban, Cape Twn, Blemfntein and Prt Elizabeth. 5

Cre/Access Netwrk ECN s cre natinal netwrk cmprises f fibre that is entirely leased frm multiple prviders, typically n five year cntracts. ECN fresees a sharp increase in the availability f dark fibre in Suth Africa and believes that new technlgies such as DWDM will significantly increase capacity leading t a decline in prices ver the next few years. ECN perceives n direct benefit frm wning dark fibre as it can add new capacity as and when demand requires and it des nt have t maintain the physical netwrk layer, thus keeping perating expenses t a minimum. ECN s current access netwrk cmprises f cpper wire, metr-ethernet, micrwave and WiMAX circuits leased primarily frm Telkm, Netel, Sentech and Vdacm Business, typically n ne t three year cntracts.
