Session 1: Education Curriculum 2019 & Examination System Presented By: Dr. Sriram & Mr. Souvik Jash K. Sriram Consulting Actuary K. Sriram is a Consulting Actuary engaged in Employee Benefits Consulting Practice.. He is also Consulting Actuary to Genpact India, the largest business process outsourcing company in India. From January 2010 to April 2012, Sriram was the Appointed Actuary of Max Bupa Health Insurance Company Between 2002 to 2006, Sriram was the Chief Actuary & Appointed Actuary of MetLife India Insurance Company. Sriram is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Actuaries of India. He has a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and a Doctorate Degree in Management from the Bharathidasan University. He is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of India. Sriram has been a member of the committee constituted by IRDA [Insurance & Regulatory Development Authority of India] on Macro Prudential Surveillance of the Insurance Sector and the Chairperson of the Committee constituted by IRDA on Economic Capital for the General Insurance Industry in India. Sriram has also been a member of the Committee on Road Map for Risk Based Solvency Approach in Insurance Sector constituted by the IRDA and the Chairperson of the sub-committee constituted by IRDA to examine the capital requirements for market risk. Sriram was an Adjunct Faculty Member at IIM, Bangalore where he taught a course on Insurance & Pension Funds in the Post Graduate Program. His current research interests within Insurance are Economic Capital and ERM [Enterprise Risk Management]. He has published a number of papers in the areas of Insurance, Employee Benefits & Investments. He has authored a book on Leasing, Hire Purchase & Factoring. Souvik Jash Appointed Actuary Aegon Life Insurance Company Limited Souvik is a Fellow of Institute of Actuaries of India and a Fellow of Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK. He has overall 17 years of experience in working in the life insurance industry including 9+ years of post qualification experience. Jash has worked with both direct insurers and consulting firms in a variety of risk and actuarial roles across India and UK. He has extensive experience in working in areas around statutory and risk capital modelling, local statutory and IFRS reporting, business & product development and pricing. implementation for the life insurers there. Jash holds a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Statistics from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. He has also done a post-graduate diploma course in Actuarial Science from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. He is actively involved in education matters of the actuarial profession including shaping the direction of the future of the profession. In particular, he has been a core member of the working party involved in shaping and implementing Curriculum 2019 for the UK Profession. He is also a Chair of the advisory group of Examination for IAI and a member of the Education Committee of IFoA and Chief Examiner of CAA Module 1 examination. Session 2: Interaction with Students Presented By: Dr. Sriram, Mr. Souvik Jash & Mr. Dinesh Chnadra Khansili Dinesh Chandra Khansili Executive Director Institute of Actuaries of India Mr. Khansili joined as Executive Director(ED) of the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI) on 27th June 2017. He has combined three decades plus experience of Actuarial, Insurance and Pension working and teaching. He has unique experience of working in public sector insurance company, insurance regulator office, multinational insurance company in India; Lagos based insurance company, teaching and actuarial consulting area. He has been trained in IAIS core principles and regulatory aspects at NAIC, Kansas city, USA, on Pension from APEC Study Centre Melbourne, Australia and regulatory aspects at Bank Negara, Malaysia. He has worked almost in all the workareas of a Life Insurance Company. He was General Manager (Technical Actuarial) in ARM Life and had a stint as an Actuarial Consultant before joining as ED. He helped reviewing actuarial, reinsurance and group insurance processes of many life insurance companies. He has reviewed licensing process of insurance and reinsurance companies. He is determined to take IAI activities ahead in timely manner and seek your support. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Actuaries of India and also possesses a Master s degree in Statistics from the University of Mysore. He has been with Exide Life Insurance for over 12 years and has worked in various capacities such as Head of Product Development, Value reporting to the shareholder, Group Actuary etc.,. He has pioneered various projects to calibrate Economic Capital and Market Consistent Embedded Value for Exide Life Insurance. Prior to joining Exide Life Insurance he has over 12 years of experience with different Life Insurance companies including LIC of India, GE Capital and Met Life. Founder & Managing Director of Pramartha Mahidhara is the Founder and Managing Director of Pramartha an Actuarial Risk Management and Consulting firm Head quartered in Bangalore, India with offices in Malaysia, South Africa, UAE, and US. I focus on the wider applications of Actuarial Science like Data Science, Analytics Finance and Investment. I have been advising Venture Capitalists and Angel Investors on exit planning using various actuarial risk modeling techniques. Prior to this I have over 14 years of experience in Research and financial valuation covering industries like Banking, Insurance and financial sectors across India, Australia South Africa and other emerging African markets. Prior to starting my own firm, I worked in Citi Bank, Ocwen financials and Atom Funds Management. Spent about 12 years with Life Insurance Corporation of India ( LIC). About half of that time in operations and the balance in investments ( 5 years) & actuarial( 1 year). In investments, largely involved with evaluating industrial projects for project finance & structured financial paper. Spent about 3 years with Tata AIG Life Insurance in the actuarial function covering the gamut of activities like pricing, statutory valuation etc. He Had been with PnbMetLife India Insurance Co for about a decade before moving out recently. Of which about 7 years as Appointed Actuary and the balance period as CFO of the entity. Expertise in evaluating the business plans, distribution channels, capital & risk management apart from normal financial control functions. He have been with Swiss Re Global Services in Bangalore as Head of Valuation for global Life &Health Business for the past two and half years. He is also a Fellow of Institute &Faculty of Actuaries and Institute of Actuaries of India. Aravind Sethumadhavan Vice President, Head P&C Reserving Bangalore Swiss Re Global Business Solutions Aravind joined the P&C Reserving team at Swiss Re Bangalore in 2011 and started leading the team in 2015. Aravind has ownership over the actuarial valuation of portfolios with a combined reserve of $4 billion, covering the Property, Engineering and Facultative lines written across the Europe, Middle-East and Africa markets. Before joining Swiss Re, Aravind worked as a reserving actuary at the primary insurer Torus for two years. Aravind has a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Delhi University and an MBA from Cardiff Business School. He has been with Swiss Re for more than 6 years and comes with more than a decade of experience in Talent Acquisition function. Fiona Johnson Head Talent Acquisition, AIG, India Over 12 years of professional experience and passion for people, leadership, development and transformation.
