2 Driving Excellence A ctuarial expertise continues to drive excellence across industry, government and community. Underpinning this is the Actuaries Institute s commitment to support members to maintain the highest standards; and promote the profession s capability and achievements to a broad audience. Driving forward the Strategic Plan is a key focus for Council and the HQ Team to support the ambitious goals of the new strategy and, to harness every opportunity to advance the profession.

3 Supporting and engaging Members Delivered Revised PS 1 (Continuing and Professional Development) issued with changes to compliance monitoring. PS 410 (Statements of Opinion Relating to Defined Benefit Pensions) issued replacing previous mandatory Guidance Note 465. Practice Guidelines (Definitions), (Pricing and Financial Projections for Private Health Insurers) and (Valuation of Health Insurance Liabilities), which replaced Guidance Note 650, issued. IFRS17 Taskforce released the first operating version of AASB17 IN: Insurance Contracts to support members in Australia and New Zealand. CPD compliance audit completed. Podcast channel launched, 20+ episodes published with 4,500+ listens achieved. Instagram platform launched. Significant increase in social media community compared to High School Program visits extended to Brisbane and Melbourne, and increased focus on promoting the actuarial profession through presentations at careers fairs. Continued growth in number of articles posted on Actuaries Digital. Under the spotlight Asia series and bi-monthly Inside Asia newsletter launched. Asia Sub-committee established with representatives from China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Sydney. Social Actuaries Network Group in Sydney, Melbourne and London established. Young Data Analytics Working Group established, and Weapons of Mass Deduction video competition launched. Successful Actuarial Hackathon held with 95 actuaries from 38 companies helping to solve 18 business challenges presented by a range of charity organisations Volunteer Awards presented on 22 May, new category introduced Spirit of Volunteering. Coming in New look and exciting See what we see campaign, to promote the profession, featuring high profile actuaries, anticipated launch early Q4. Refreshed Actuaries Digital website to showcase Actuaries expertise and thought-leadership. Continue to build an effective, integrated communication strategy to promote member engagement. Continued focus on engaging Asiabased members. Continued strong focus on committee operational efficiency and the volunteer community. Continued updates by IFRS17 Implementation Taskforce on AASB 17 IN. Appointed Actuary professional standards update. Kinnect Mentoring App prototype to support members career growth. Educating and developing Members Delivered Hired first staff actuarial educators and new education program approved, covering Foundation (Part I), Associateship (Part II) and Fellowship (Part III). Improvements to Part III program, including re-establishment of the education faculties, tightening of examination controls, and launching assignments. Through the contribution of volunteers,

4 produced 830 CPD resources for members including the annual Practice Update Videos and a range of other CPD videos, podcasts, webinars, articles, publications and events covering popular topics. Selection of a new Content Repository System (CRS) for effectively categorising and storing CPD resources and other content. Enhancements to membership subscription processes. Events Review completed, implementing a new approach to organising and managing events, and restructuring the longer-term events program. Presidential and CEO Member Networking sessions around Asia. Annual Joint Regional Seminar in collaboration with IFOA, SOA and local associations, presented in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei and extended to cover Jakarta and Sydney for the first time. Coming in Completion of Part III improvements, in preparation for transition to the new Fellowship Program. Launch of the new Foundation Program and launch of the first two new subjects in the new Fellowship Program. Changes to university accreditation and exemption policies. Hiring of further staff actuarial educator roles. Continued development of new CPD resources across events, videos, podcasts, webinars, articles, elearning and publications. Development and integration of the capabilities of the new Content Repository System, providing enhanced access to CPD content online. Actuaries Summit and a range of other practice-based events and joint events in Asia. Dedicated podcast series Inside Asia. Continuation of media roundtables with senior journalists to raise awareness of the profession s expertise. 22 submissions and 14 media releases. Fostered relationship with the regulatory and actuarial bodies in Asia. Coming in Australian Actuaries Climate Index. Green Papers on Retirement Incomes and Private Health Insurance. Additional issues of The Dialogue leading the conversation. Continued focus on stakeholder engagement plan (regulatory bodies, employees, universities and other actuarial associations).
