BACKGROUND A SILVER TSUNAMI IS INVADING THE HEALTH OF NATIONS. Nations are forced to embrace a growing phenomenon where the ageing population is growing faster than the population at large due to declining fertility rates and enhanced longevity. According to the World Health Organisation, it is projected that 1 in 5 individuals would be 60 years or older by 2050. This phenomenon is also observed in Malaysia. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, the data showed decreasing rates in fertility (from 6.7% (1957) to 2% (2015) of children per woman), declining death rates (from 12.4% (1957) to 5% (2015) per 1000 population) and remarkable increments in life expectancy due to improved access and quality of healthcare received (from 61.6 years (1957) to 74.7 (2016)). As the ageing population blooms in size, we face new challenges in empowering and caring for the aged. While breakthroughs in conventional medicine continue to impact us, the scientific community has also pursued numerous research studies and clinical trials to prove the effectiveness of traditional and complementary medicine (T&CM) in delivering safe and quality healthcare to the population. Studies have shown that T&CM is effective in strengthening the body s defence and healing abilities while encouraging a holistic approach towards good health practices, self-care and empowerment. There is much potential for T&CM to complement the provision of conventional healthcare and as such, the integration of T&CM into the national health care system could provide better care towards healthy ageing. This conference therefore aims to provide a suitable platform and opportunity for participants from various walks of life to explore an integrated approach towards healthy ageing in the era of the Silver Tsunami. One World Hotel, Selangor, Malaysia GUIDELINES FOR POSTER PRESENTATION The poster must be made in A1 size and portrait position. It should be obvious to the viewer. It generally should read from left to right, and top to bottom. Lettering for the title should be large (at least 70 point). Include the title of your presentation at the top of the poster. Each poster must include text in a large enough font (~24-point font) to be read easily by attendees from 4 to 5 feet or more. Lettering on illustrations should be large and legible. Legends and titles should accompany all figures, tables, photographs. Cancellation Charges The following cancellation charges will be imposed for each booth cancelled, according to the following schedule: Cancellation received By 30 th June 2019 From 1 st July 2019 onwards Cancellation charges 50% of booth cost 100% of booth cost 8. Additional Equipment and Electrical Fittings All electrical work shall be carried out by the Official Exhibition Contractor only and usage of extension plugs are NOT ALLOWED. Exhibitors may order additional items directly from the Official Exhibition Contractor. To avoid surcharge, the additional items should be ordered by 18 th July 2019. If the order is placed between 19 th July 2019 2 nd August 2019, a 30% surcharge applies; and on site order of items will incur a 50% surcharge. 9. 11. Liability/ Insurance All exhibitors are responsible to ensure that their items are adequately insured. The Organiser is not responsible in the event of any loss or theft of exhibitors belongings. Exhibitors are responsible for any damage(s) to the property of the Hotel or Official Exhibition Contractor arising from any actions by the exhibitors themselves. 12. Exhibits/ products do not contain dangerous drugs which are listed under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (Act 234) and poisons which are listed under the Poisons Act 1952 (Act 366); b. Exhibits/ products are solely for exhibition purpose and are not allowed to be distributed or sold in Malaysia; and c. Exhibits/ products have to be brought back to the country of origin OR disposed of responsibly after the end of the exhibition. ii. All medical devices brought in from outside Malaysia that require approval from the Medical Device Authority, Ministry of Health Malaysia need to adhere the rules and regulations as stipulated in the Medical Device Act 2012. iii. All forms of advertisements displayed concerning products and services must comply iv. with the Medicines (Advertisement and Sale) Act 1956 (Act 290).
