Over the past two months, consumer prices excluding food and energy rose at a 7 percent rate. is The seasonally adjusted producer price index of finished goods (PPI) was unchanged in February, after rising at an annual rate of 24.1 percent in January. Excluding food and energy, the PPI has risen at a 2.9 percent rate since December. ^ Industrial production rose at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 7 percent in February, compared with an 11.2 percent rate of decline in January. February industrial production was up 0.9 percent from a year earlier. ts U.S. industries operated at 82.3 percent of capacity in February, compared with 82 percent in January and 83.9 percent in February 1989.
