4 Course Modules DAY 1 SESSION 1 - BUSINESS FINANCE INTRODUCTION We introduce the basic building blocks of company finance and use examples directly relevant to delegates wherever possible. Topics in this session include : Terminology and Principles y Financial objectives y The difference between statutory and management accounts y Origin of accounting standards y Some financial jargon y Practical accounting principles for your business Profit & Loss COURSE STRUCTURE This two day on-site course includes lots of interaction and opportunity to practice. There are practical exercises throughout the course, which will help delegates to apply the techniques they have learned. Profits are the lifeblood of any business, making this section particularly important! It covers: y What constitutes turnover y Cost of sales y Managing fixed and variable costs y Cash and accrual accounting y VAT and where it fits in Balance Sheet Balance sheets provide a snapshot of the businesses financial strength. We ll also help delegates assess how to increase the profits from a business project - the results are often surprising!
