TPDS - Challenges? Last mile challenges highlighted and not the end-to-end supply chain challenges Existence of duplicate/ghost records of a beneficiary in government database Proof of Presence of the Beneficiary Transfer of Benefits to beneficiaries
So, why Aadhaar in TPDS? Uniqueness will ensure elimination of duplicate/ghost records Use of Aadhaar authentication will ensure physical presence of beneficiary at the time availing benefits In case where States/UTs choose to adopt Food for Cash or Direct Benefits Transfer, because Aadhaar is also a Financial Address, government department can transfer subsidy without having to worry of collecting Account Number and IFSC code
