The Lake Township s held a regular meeting Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Bowen called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited. Roll Call: Richard P. New Business: Starting Resolution will be #72-14 Bowen moved to pay the following bills: Warrant # 73002 through Warrant # 73095 and EFT 215-2014 through 218-2014 for a total sum of $ 119,018.63. Welling moved to adopt Resolution # 72-14 Whereas, the amount of taxes which may be raised within the ten mill limitation will be insufficient to provide an adequate amount for the necessary requirements of Lake Township, Wood County, Ohio, and Whereas, a Resolution declaring the necessity of levying a tax under R.C. 5705.19 (I) outside the ten mill limitation must be passed and certified to the County Auditor in Wood County in order to permit the Board of s to consider the levy of such a tax and must request that the County Auditor certify to the Board of s the total current tax valuation of Lake Township and the dollar amount of revenue that would be generated by the tax, so Therefore, be it resolved, by the Board of s, two thirds of all members elected thereto concurring, that it is necessary to levy a renewal tax in excess of the ten-mill limitation for the benefit of Lake Township for the purpose of providing and maintaining fire apparatus, appliances, building or sites therefore, or sources of water supply and materials therefore, or the establishment and maintenance of lines of fire alarm telegraph, or the payment of permanent, part-time, or volunteer firefighters or firefighting companies to operate same, including the payment of the firefighters employer's contribution required under section 724.34 of the Ohio Revised Code, at a rate not exceeding 1 mill for each one dollar of valuations, which amounts to $.10 for each one hundred dollars of valuations for 5 years and be it further Resolved, that the levy be placed upon the tax lists, commencing in 2015, first due in calendar year 2016, if a majority of electors voting thereon vote in favor thereof and be it further Resolved, that the question of such levy shall be submitted to the electors of Lake Township at the election to be held herein on Tuesday, November 4,2014 and, be it further Resolved, that the Fiscal Officer is hereby directed to certify a copy of the Resolution to the County Auditor and Board of Elections, Wood County, Ohio. The Board of s hereby requests that the County Auditor certify to this Board of s the total current tax valuation of Lake Township and the dollar amount of revenue that would be generated by the tax levy.
Seconded by Mr. Pettit Pettit moved to adopt Resolution # 73-14 Whereas, the current rear discharge mower used by the Lake Township Cemetery is in need of replacement due to age and high hour usage, and Whereas, Lake Township Cemetery Sexton Dan Sprinski has received a state purchasing price for a Hustler Super Z 60" deck mower and recommends purchase of said mower, so Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township s authorize the purchase of one (1) Hustler Super Z 60 inch deck, Kawasaki Fx850 mower at the state purchasing price of $9,768.86 from TMT Equipment Sales & Service, 700 W. Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. Pettit moved to adopt Resolution # 74-14 Whereas, Lake Township is enrolled in the Cooperative Purchasing Program through the Ohio Department of Administrative Services, and Whereas, Lake Township receives substantial cost savings in the purchase of equipment through membership in the Cooperative Purchasing Program, so Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township s renew membership in the Cooperative Purchasing Program and pay a one hundred ($100.00) administrative fee to the Office of Cooperative Purchasing, 4200 Surface Road, Columbus, Ohio 43228. Fire department Issues: Bowen moved to adopt Resolution # 75-15 Whereas, the hydraulic rescue tool used by Lake Township Fire Department was in need of repairs (leaking coupler) and preventative maintenance, so
Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township s approve the sum of $855.00 for the needed repairs and preventative maintenance to Howell Rescue Systems, Inc., 2673 Culver Avenue, Kettering, Ohio 45429. Welling moved to adopt Resolution # 76-14 Whereas, the fuel shutoff solenoid on Lake Township Fire Unit 841/Engine 28 was in need of replacement due to malfunctioning, so Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township s pay the sum of $750.54 to Toledo Cummings Bridgeway, 801 Illinois Avenue, Maumee, Ohio 43537 for the needed parts and repairs to Lake Township Fire Unit 841/Engine 28. Seconded by Mr. Pettit Bowen moved to accept the resignation of Lake Township Firefighter Brent Jones from the Lake Township Fire Department effective June 3, 2014. Discussion: s thanked him for his service. Discussion Only: Mosquito spraying requested for ditches-mosquito dunks are available. Too cost prohibitive-labor, equipment, etc. There is too much area in the township. Pettit-follow-up to Lemoyne Road Speed Study-study was requested by a resident. Chief Hummer to share stats with Pettit. Thank you to Cemetery Sexton, Dan Sprinski, for doing a good job preparing the cemetery grounds for Memorial Day.
