A high pririty f the Ecnmic Opprtunity Plan is t assist these existing businesses t remain healthy. Our small businesses ver the years have prvided jbs, paid taxes, and cntributed t lcal charitable and cmmunity effrts. In additin t prviding jbs and generating revenue, small businesses bring unique cultural and scial elements t ur cmmunity. A key cmpnent and pririty f the Ecnmic Opprtunity Plan is t grw ur lcal businesses and increase their prsperity, which will cntribute t the city gvernment revenue base. In Seaside s current business envirnment there are multiple barriers, bth perceived and actual, that hinder the success f small business. Sme f the primary barriers are listed belw. Keeping an existing business frm mving by helping them find a larger facility within the city is far mre efficient than trying t attract new large businesses t a city. A frmal business visitatin prgram needs t be initiated and sustained. Thrugh the infrmatin gathered frm the visitatins, items and areas f imprtance fr ur existing businesses will be revealed. With this new infrmatin, the City will better understand the brader ecnmic challenges, needs and pprtunities that lcally wned and perated businesses are facing. The cmmittee wuld meet n a regular (mnthly) basis with staff t assist with the identificatin f small business needs and the implementatin f business assistance prgrams. 1.2 Initiate and sustain a frmal business visitatin prgram: 1) make a cmplete inventry f all existing businesses, 2) cntact firms t determine current situatin and needs; 3) initiate effrts t meet shrt term needs; and 4) make sure all City staff maintains a pr-business attitude in all cntacts with the business cmmunity. 1.3 Maintain updated infrmatin n City s website t agencies and rganizatins with links that have resurces and assistance fr businesses. 1.4 Cllabrate with business assciatins t develp merchants guides and nline business directry prmting shp lcal. 1.5 Make the prcess f applying fr a business license as fast as pssible with infrmatin and interactive applicatin n-line. The Seaside Grw Fund The Grw Seaside Fund is a unique ecnmic develpment partnership between the City f Seaside and the Natinal Develpment Cuncil s Grw America Fund, Inc. (GAF), an apprved SBA 7a lender. T qualify fr a lan, the business must engage in a legitimate fr-prfit business activity and have the ability t create permanent jbs in the cmmunity. The fund can finance healthy, successful, small businesses that need expansin capital t reach their full grwth ptential. What des the Grw SeaSide Fund Finance?
