We have cmpiled this list f Frequently Asked Questins fr yur cnvenience and t prvide yu with a better understanding f this prgram. If yu are interested in this prgram, r have just signed up, please review the infrmatin belw and let us knw if there is any way we can further assist yu. General Questins: Q: What is the CAP lan? A: A benefit f AAFMAA membership fr eligible Active Duty members with a minimum amunt f insurance in frce. Q: What are the requirements fr a CAP lan? A: The fllwing items are required t receive a CAP Lan: Eligible military status: Active duty r guard/reserve earning retirement pints and able t supply a LES r call t active duty rders. Rank f E5, E6, E7, E8, E9, WO1, CW2, CW3, CW4, CW5, O1, O2, O3 r O4. AAFMAA membership - by purchasing a life insurance plicy f at least $250,000 term r $50,000 whle life. Yu can use the cverage t supplement yur SGLI. Autmatic mnthly payment: Active Duty and eligible Guard/Reserve - Alltment thrugh the Defense Finance and Accunting Service (DFAS) preferred. Requires depsit f tw mnths insurance premium. Guard/Reserve - Bank accunt withdrawal (EZ-Pay) if nt alltment eligible. Requires depsit f ne mnth insurance premium. Call 1-877-398-2263 fr required frms. Armed Frces Bank (AFB) checking accunt - where we will depsit yur lan. If yu d nt have an AFB accunt, we will pen ne fr yu at n cst. Valid email address AAFMAA will send all cmmunicatin regarding the CAP lan via email. Please ensure AAFMAA has the best email address fr yu n file and update when necessary. Q: What happens after I return my CAP Applicatin? A: Returning yur cmpleted applicatin and requirements t AAFMAA starts yur CAP prcess. Once received, AAFMAA will cmplete the fllwing: Applicatin review - AAFMAA will review yur applicatin dcuments t ensure yu have prvided all required infrmatin. If medical dcuments were required, ur underwriters will evaluate them. AAFMAA will issue yur plicy, subject t underwriting (if applicable) and apprval. AFB Setup - AFB will set up yur accunt and send a welcme package t yu. AFB may include ffers fr additinal services, which are unrelated t AAFMAA and yur

CAP lan. Yu are nt required t send anything t AFB unless there is an issue with yur accunt applicatin. D nt use any checks until AAFMAA ntifies yu that it depsited the lan and yu have cnfirmed yur accunt balance! AFB may cntact yu if there is any prblem setting up yur accunt. Payment prcessing - AAFMAA must receive yur first premium payments and setup yur autmatic premium and lan payment befre the lan can be issued: Active Duty and eligible Guard/Reserve AAFMAA will send a cnfirmatin email with instructins fr starting yur alltment. Any verpayment f premiums upn startup will be applied t reduce yur CAP lan balance Guard/Reserve - AAFMAA will cntact yur bank t start yur autmatic accunt withdrawal. Lan depsit - Yur lan will be depsited in yur AFB accunt by the secnd business day f the mnth that we receive yur first payment by alltment, r by the 18th f the mnth yur bank accunt was successfully drafted. AAFMAA will ntify yu by email when we wire the depsit t AFB. Plicy package - AAFMAA will mail yur membership and insurance dcuments. Plicy and lan dcuments are viewable n AAFMAA s Member Center https://cnnect.aafmaa.cm/. Q: Can I make my first payment by check r credit card s that I can get the lan faster? A: Unfrtunately nt; yu must make yur first payment by alltment r EZPay bank draft. The CAP lan is an unsecured lan that relies n a scheduled payment stream t keep ur csts lw. Q: AAFMAA issued my plicy but I can t wait until next mnth fr the lan funds. Can AAFMAA send the mney sner? A: Unfrtunately nt. A: The lan is a benefit f membership, and yu ll becme a member by btaining an insurance plicy with AAFMAA. Applying fr life insurance smetimes requires a detailed review f yur medical histry. Q: Hw des AAFMAA disburse the CAP lan funds? A: Yur lan will be depsited in yur AFB accunt by the secnd business day f the mnth that we receive yur first payment by alltment, r by the 18th f the mnth yur bank accunt was drafted. AAFMAA will ntify yu by email when we wire the depsit t AFB. Q: Hw will I knw AAFMAA has wired my lan? A: AAFMAA will send yu an email nce we issue yur plicy and fund yur lan. Please ensure we have yur best email address fr cntact. Q: Wh d I cntact nce AAFMAA issues the lan? A: Please cntact AAFMAA fr any insurance related questins. Yu may reach us at 1-800- 522-5221. Q: My friend gt his mney quicker. What s taking s lng fr my lan? A: The CAP prcess has deadlines thrughut the mnth that may affect the timing f yur lan. Fr alltments, the deadline fr getting yur alltment started is mid-mnth fr the fllwing mnth payut. Missing this may add 45 r mre days t yur CAP funding schedule. Fr EZPay, the deadline t enter bank drafts fr the fllwing mnth is the end f the prir mnth. Missing this may add 45 r mre days t yur CAP funding schedule. Q: Can I take a secnd lan? A: Please cntact us nce yu have successfully paid ff yur first CAP Lan t determine whether AAFMAA is ffering a secnd lan pprtunity. Q: Are any f the AAFMAA prducts available fr my spuse and children? A: Yes! Spuses are eligible fr the same prducts as ur members and can take advantage f the same lw rates. Eligible children can take advantage f ur term r whle life prducts, sme designed specifically fr children/grandchildren. Please cntact us at 1-877-398-2263 t learn mre. Q: Can my spuse and children take ut a CAP lan? A: Unfrtunately nt. The CAP lan is a benefit f membership limited t the eligible active duty ranks listed abve. Alltment Questins: Q: When will I get alltment instructins? A: Once AAFMAA apprves yur applicatin and issues a plicy. Q: Why can t I start my alltment via MyPay? A: DFAS des nt permit life insurance alltment starts (r changes pssibly) t be dne nline by the service member using MyPay. Yu must submit DD Frm 2558 (Authrizatin t Start, Stp r Change an Alltment) thrugh yur Finance Office (FO)/Defense Accunting Office (DAO) t start yur alltment. Yu must stress t yur FO/DAO that this alltment is NOT fr a financial institutin; but is fr Life Insurance. AAFMAA des nt have a ruting number. Q: Did my alltment start? A: We d nt have access t see if yur alltment has started. We nly knw when we receive yur first mnth s alltment. If yu have specific questins regarding yur alltment amunt, please cntact yur Finance Center. Q: When des AAFMAA receive my alltment? A: DFAS remits their alltments t AAFMAA n the first business day f every mnth. Q: What happens if my Alltment des nt start n time? A: If this happens, we suggest yu cntact yur Finance Office t ensure it will begin the fllwing mnths. Unfrtunately, AAFMAA cannt disburse yur lan funds until yur alltment starts and we receive yur first mnth s payment. Q: When will I receive the lan? A: AAFMAA will depsit yur lan in yur AFB accunt by the secnd business day f the mnth that we receive yur first payment. AAFMAA will ntify yu by email when we wire the depsit t AFB. 3

Q: My alltment started, where is my lan? A: Althugh yu may see the alltment withheld n yur LES, AAFMAA has nt yet received the transfer. Only nce AAFMAA receives yur payment can we depsit yur lan int yur AFB accunt. Q: My alltment didn t start, but I really need the mney and need an exceptin t this prcess! What can I d? A: Unfrtunately yu must wait until yur alltment starts and AAFMAA receives it. The CAP lan is an unsecured lan that relies n a scheduled payment stream t keep ur csts lw. EZPay Questins: Q: What is EZPay? A: EZ-Pay is a mnthly autmatic electrnic funds transfer frm yur checking accunt fr payment f premiums, dues and/r lan payments. AAFMAA will charge yur bank accunt after the first business day f each mnth. The first payment will include all past due premiums and/r dues, if applicable. Yu may cancel this authrizatin by ntifying AAFMAA with 30 days written ntice, hwever, yu cannt cancel it fr the existing mnth. Q: Hw d I setup an EZPay bank draft? A: Cmplete the EZPay Pay Enrllment frm prvided t yu r available n www.aafmaa.cm. T setup EZPay, AAFMAA must first issue a plicy and setup EZPay prcessing. Once AAFMAA issues yur plicy we will setup the EZPay fr yu. Q: When des AAFMAA take EZPay Bank drafts frm my accunt? A: AAFMAA will draft yur bank accunt fr the premium and lan payment necessary after the first f each mnth. Please ensure yu fund yur accunt t cver this draft. Q: Can I pick a specific date fr my EZPay bank draft? A: Unfrtunately nt, the EZPay prcess is a batch rutine that requires all drafts t ccur at the same time. Q: AAFMAA drafted my accunt, where is my lan? A: AAFMAA will fund yur lan when we receive final cnfirmatin frm ur bank that yur EZPay draft was successful. Yu will see yur deductin 1-2 weeks prir t AAFMAA receiving that final reprt. Q: My draft failed, what happens nw? A: If this is yur first draft failure, AAFMAA will try t redraft n the fllwing mnth. If this happens, we suggest yu cntact yur bank t see why the EZPay was nt successful t ensure success n the next mnth when AAFMAA drafts yur accunt. If this is yur secnd draft failure, AAFMAA will require yu t pay yur lan by alltment r will cancel it fr 60 days in rder t prvide yu time t ensure yur finances are set fr future drafts. If AAFMAA cancels yur lan, new lan dcuments will be required t cnsider yu fr a future lan. AAFMAA des nt make exceptins t this prcess.

Q: The mney was in my bank accunt, why are yu saying the draft rejected? A: When we infrm yu that the funds were nt available fr draft, we are relaying the banks message t us t yu. On the day that AAFMAA tried t take the draft, yur bank has reprted t us that funds were nt available, regardless f hw much mney yu have in yur accunt nw. AAFMAA cannt tell hw much mney is in yur bank accunt. Q: When will I receive the lan? A: AAFMAA will depsit yur lan in yur AFB accunt by the 18th f the mnth that it drafted yur bank accunt. AAFMAA will ntify yu by email when we wire the depsit t AFB. Armed Frces Bank (AFB) Questins: Q: Why d I need pen an accunt with AFB? A: AAFMAA partners with AFB t help us cntain the verhead expenses assciated with administrating this lw-interest rate lan prgram. Yu d nt need t cntact AFB befre yu get lan apprval frm AAFMAA unless yu have specific questins abut the bank s services r the bank cntacts yu with regarding accunt setup. AFB recently enhanced its checking accunt with a mre rbust ffering that includes access t 30,000+ ATMs with n surcharge and prvides Military Early Pay. Q: I dn t have an AFB accunt. Can yu send the lan t my bank? A: Unfrtunately nt. AAFMAA partners with AFB t help us cntain the verhead expenses assciated with administrating this lw-interest rate lan prgram. We nly wire funds t AFB. Q: AFB has been trying t reach me, why? A: AFB has a dedicated department fr the CAP Lan prgram. They will ntify yu nce they have pened the accunt t assist yu with any questins r cncerns yu may have regarding the checking accunt as well as t ntify yu when yu shuld receive yur new accunt infrmatin. Q: I received my checks frm Armed Frces Bank (AFB), s AAFMAA apprved my lan, right? A: N, AFB sends its welcme package ut befre AAFMAA funds yur accunt. We recmmend yu verify yur accunt balance befre yu use yur accunt. Q: When will I receive my AFB bank infrmatin? A: Typically yu shuld receive yur AFB welcme package within 10-14 days after yur AAFMAA plicy issues. Q: What happens if I dn t get the AFB bank infrmatin befre AAFMAA funds my lan? A: When AAFMAA funds yur lan we will prvide yu AFB s cntact infrmatin in ur email message t yu. Yu may cntact AFB by phne t wrk with them n different ways t access yur funds. If yu are near an AFB branch yu may als g int the bank branch t wrk with a representative t access yur funds. Q: AAFMAA ntified me that it wired my lan funds, but the bank states it has nt. A: If AAFMAA has cmmunicated t yu that it has funded yur lan, it has. We d nt send this cmmunicatin ut until we actually fund yur lan. The AFB service rep yu are talking

t cannt see the "wire." We recmmend yu call AFB back after 24 hurs t check the status. If it is nt there, please cntact us. Q: AFB has requested that I send them a cmpleted applicatin, why? A: There may be a questin regarding accunt applicatin that is included in yur CAP Lan applicatin. Please cntact AFB's CAP Lan Department at 844-72SERVE (73783). Q: Hw can I transfer the lan funds t my regular bank accunt utside f AFB? A: We encurage yu t review the Welcme Package frm AFB befre making a decisin nt t keep yur accunt with them. AFB has prvided a special accunt just fr CAP members. If yu d decide t withdraw yur funds, yu may transfer the funds by writing a check t yurself, withdrawing cash frm an AFB branch, r cntacting AFB by phne t cmplete a wire transfer (fees may apply) t yur bank f chice. If yu d transfer yur funds ut f AFB, please review the accunt terms and cnditins prvided in yur new accunt packet r cntact AFB t avid accunt fees. There is n requirement t clse yur accunt with AFB, yu are welcme t keep the accunt pen fr use.
