Payroll Single Touch Payroll Information from ATO Website: Single Touch Payroll is a reporting change for employers. It starts from 1 July 2018 for employers with 20 or more employees. You will report payments such as salaries and wages, pay as you go (PAYG) withholding and superannuation information from your payroll solution each time you pay your employees. Single Touch Payroll will be expanded to include employers with 19 or less employees from 1 July 2019. This is subject to legislation being passed in parliament. You will now be able to do Termination pays and upload with your normal payroll but there are a few new codes you may need to setup at the time of doing a Termination pay, or allowances, holiday workers etc. Also check your data as the ATO will reject any files that do not have the correct information: 1. Your company information 2. All your employees have correct addresses, City, State and Postcode 3. Tax file numbers Superannuation: You will still have to process your Superannuation payments as per usual. Termination: new codes will have to be created. Note: Also note that every time you hit the [Re-submit] button in Spider to upload to the ATO you will have to pay.25 cents per person for it to be transferred to the ATO site. (Which will be billed out every month from PCSchool). Don t be impatient and wait for the ATO to respond by [POLL]ing instead. As this is new the ATO site could take a while to respond in our testing we waited over 10 minutes to get an answer from the ATO so it could be 24 hours! Submission to the ATO Log on to your Spider > Finance > Payroll > Single Touch Payroll The next page will show your payrolls that you have processed that need to be upload Click [Process] button to upload file Version 20180614 Page 3 of 9
Will then ask you to confirm the submission as per next screen: Check that your Address and details are all correct (note this is only an example) The [Business Management System ID] is you ABN no. enrucpted reading from your System File. 1. Put [Tick] in that you declare to authorise to submit the file (you can click on the link for the SBR agreement to read the terms and conditions). 2. [Enable Test Mode No actual ATO Submission] if you are getting errors from the ATO after you submit this enables you to view the.xml file that the system creates to the ATO and will help you find out the errors you may have. 3. [Generate and Submit] This will do a pre-check on your data, it may come up with errors which you can fix and then [Generate & Submit] again Version 20180614 Page 4 of 9

1. Return to Spider and select the [Generate and Submit] 1. You will then get this following message to say that the file has been submitted to MXC (the 3 rd Party) and now wait this normally this take 10 mins for the ATO to respond. [Log] button This will show you what is happening with your file e.g. here it has been received by MXC In the [Log] if you click down you will see that the file has been sent on the 21 Jun 2018 at 10.08.00 When selecting this message it show you what is happening with your file e.g. Still pending and Message received by MXC Wait until you get an answer from the ATO you can [POLL] to see how your submission is going Version 20180614 Page 7 of 9
