Kit & Contents Insurance Policy Summary This is a summary and does not contain the full Terms and Conditions of the cover, which can be found in the policy wording. It is important that you read the policy wording and schedule carefully. Type of Insurance Cover This Forces Mutual Kit and Contents Insurance protects your Service Equipment and Personal Possessions against accidental loss, and damage (in and away from the home) and loss or damage to your household goods and personal effects in the home. Cover also includes Tenants and Personal Liability and Legal Expenses covers. Some of the covers summarised below are optional and these are clearly marked as such. If you have selected any of these options, they will be itemised on your schedule. All Sections Your policy includes the following significant features and benefits, which are explained in detail in your policy wording. o Worldwide Cover (other than in respect of Legal Expenses) o Dedicated Claims Service o You must comply with the conditions of the policy, as explained in the General Conditions sections of the policy wording in order for your cover to apply. These conditions include your duty to take reasonable precautions to prevent loss, and actions you must take as soon as you are aware of a possible claim under your policy. o See the General Exclusions sections of the policy wording for those exclusions that apply to entire sections of cover. o You will have to pay the first part of most claims this is known as the excess. For most claims the excess is 60, but for laptop computers this is increased to 125. An excess of 150 ( 250 within three months of the policy inception or start date) applies
o for household goods or personal effects in transit by professional removers or military transport, under the Contents in the Home section. Certain losses or damage may be limited or excluded if any endorsement / clause is shown on your policy schedule - e.g. theft cover may be restricted under the Contents in the Home section unless certain security measures are in force. Service Equipment and Personal Possessions Section Please see the Service Equipment and Personal Possessions section of the policy wording for details. o Accidental loss or damage cover for your Service Equipment and Personal Possessions. o Cover for up to 20,000 of Temporary Issued Kit. o Restrictions apply for theft from an unattended vehicle and a limit of 1,000 applies. See policy wording for details. o Pedal Cycles, contact lenses, ceremonial swords, mobile telephones, laptops, Ipods,MP3 Players, GPS s and items valued over 1,000 are not covered unless specifically mentioned in the schedule cover can be provided for some of the items above on request, for an additional premium. o Damage to sports racquets, sticks, bats and clubs are excluded whilst in play. o Theft of pedal cycles (if specified) unless from a locked building or securely locked to an immovable object. o The maximum amount payable for any one item of Temporary Issued Kit is 1,500. o Loss of items which have been deliberately left unattended unless necessitated by or in the course of military duty. Contents in the Home Section Please see the contents in the Home section of the policy wording for details. o Accidental loss or damage cover for your Household Goods and Personal Property. o Spoilage of food in freezers (up to 500) o Replacement keys to locks of external doors of the private dwelling hiring or married quarter. o Replacement keys to alarm systems or domestic safes if stolen (up to 250). o Temporary Removal cover up to 25% of the Contents in the Home sum insured. o Restrictions apply for theft from an unattended vehicle and a limit of 1,000 applies. See policy wording for details. o The maximum value of any one item of valuables is 1,000 unless specifically agreed otherwise. o No cover is provided for household goods used for business or professional purposes. o Theft or malicious damage caused by you, your paying guests or tenants. o In respect to unoccupied homes: o Theft of household goods (unless involving entry to exit from the home by forcible and violent means). o Theft of valuables. o Certain losses or damage when your home is unoccupied for more than 120 days in a row.
Personal Money and Credit Cards Section Please see the Personal Money and Credit Cards section of the policy wording for details. o Cover for personal money and credit cards (up to 500). o Losses not reported to the Police. o Losses of credit cards not reported to the card issuing company within 24 hours of discovery. Tenant s Liability Section Please see the Tenant s Liability section of the policy wording for details. o This provides cover for your liability arising from an agreement to occupy either Service Family Accommodation or Service Single Living Accommodation or other accommodation under a private tenancy agreement. o Liability is limited to a maximum of either: o 20,000 for any one claim in respect of Service Family or Service Single Accommodation, or o 2,500 or 30% of the chosen Sum Insured for Contents in the Home whichever is the greater for any one claim in respect of a private tenancy. o If the policy is not in force for the full period of occupancy, any liability will be adjusted pro rata according to the period insured, unless the liability relates to a specific reported incident of damage within the period of insurance. Personal Liability Section Please see the Personal Liability section of the policy wording for details. Your personal liability up to 1,000,000 anywhere in the world. o Airborne, waterborne or underwater craft (other than windsurfers, sailboards or surfboards) are excluded. Legal Expenses Section Please see the Legal Expenses section of the policy wording for details. Cover for: o Legal costs for certain types of disputes o Assistance Helplines including 24/7 Legal Advice o We may decline support or further support when, supported by independent legal advice, we form the view you do not have a more than 50% chance of winning the case and achieving a positive outcome. o You must notify claims as soon as possible once you become aware of the incident and within no more than 180 days of you becoming aware of the incident. There will be no cover if as a result of a delay in reporting the claim, our position has been prejudiced. o The insurance covers the legal costs incurred by our panel solicitors. You are not covered for any other legal representative s costs unless court proceedings are started or a conflict of interest arises.
o There is no cover for claims where an estimate of the advisers costs is more than the amount in dispute Duration of Policy One month from the date shown in your schedule and any further monthly period for which we accept a premium. Your Cancellation Rights If, having applied for this policy you decide that it does not meet your needs, you can return it to Forces Mutual with 30 days of receiving your insurance documents (the Cooling-off period) and all cover will be cancelled. On the condition that no claims have been made or are pending any premium paid will be refunded to you. You may cancel this policy at any time after the cooling-off period. If you do so, no premium refund will be made.
