No Charity no. SC MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION FORM I hereby apply for membership of the SOCIETY OF BORDER LEICESTER SHEEP BREEDERS, and undertake to bind myself to the Rules & Regulations of the Society. Membership Clause taken from Society Constitution:- Membership is open to applicants. Each applicant for membership shall sign an application form in which he shall bind himself to abide by the Rules and Regulations of the Society as then existing or as they may thereafter be amended. Each application shall be submitted to a Council Meeting, and if approved the applicant, after payment of the appropriate entrance fee and annual subscription, shall be deemed to be admitted and added to the roll. 2 P.T.O. IMPORTANT NOTICE TO MEMBERS PREFIXES All breeders of ear-marked sheep must register a Prefix which must be used in the naming of all registered rams bred by them. You are therefore called upon to make an application for a Prefix. The rules of the registration of Prefixes are as follows:- 1. Each breeder of pedigree (ear-marked) Border Leicester Sheep shall register a Prefix which must be used in the naming of all registered rams bred by that breeder. 2. The Prefix shall be one word and, while preferable, need not necessarily be derived from the name of the breeder's farm. Names likely to prove misleading shall not be permitted. All Prefixes, before being granted, shall be approved by Council whose decision, in the event of a dispute, shall be final. 3. Two or more Flocks cannot be granted the same Prefix. 4. The Prefix shall form one of the maximum of three words allowed in the naming of rams. 5. In the event of a breeder moving to a new address, he shall have the right to continue with his original Prefix, if so desired. 6. In the event of a Flock changing ownership and permission having been granted by Council for the transference of the original Flock Number to the new owner or owners, the Prefix also may be transferable. 7. In every case where a new Flock Number is allocated, there must also be a new Prefix. 8. The decision of the Council shall be final in all matters relating to Prefixes. V.A.T. The scheme allows the Society, as a Registered Charity, to claim gift aid on donations (subscriptions, registration fees and levies) from members, subject to the members having paid (or expecting to pay) an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that the charity reclaims on your donations in the appropriate tax year. 1. 4 GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION ACTION REQUIRED As of the 25 th of May 2018, the UK Data Protection Act was replaced by the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which has implications for all types of organisations. There are certain actions that the Society must now take to ensure that we comply with this legislation and that our processes are compliant. The main implication for the Society and its members is that we must obtain permission from members regarding the documentation of all the personal data that we hold, including the full members database. As part of this, we require opt-in permissions from all our members to allow us to include their personal information which will be in our member database. GDPR states that opt-in from members MUST be a positive opt-in, which means that you cannot provide consent by inactivity or silence and must take positive action when prompted, such as actively ticking a box and providing a signature as per the below. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF THIS IS NOT DONE THEN YOUR INFORMATION CANNOT BE INCLUDED ON OUR MEMBERSHIP DATABASE, FLOCKBOOK, WEBSITE or any publications that use this data. By doing so, you confirm that you are happy for your information to be held on the society database and be made readily available through the members database which we hold on our website. We MUST reiterate that any members who do not complete this form providing their consent to GDPR will not be able to have their information feature on our members database, in the flock book or website and will therefore be removed, so it s it vitally important that you take the time to fill in this form.
