4 Russia RESIDENCY BY INVESTMENT Russia launched its own citizenship program through investment in The legal basis for this was created on 23 June Per sections 1(g) and 1(h) of the statute below, there are two paths to a second passport by investment in Russia. The first is for the entrepreneur or self-employed individual. Move your business to Russia and, if your taxable profits from that business are 10 million rubles (~ USD 162,000) or more over in each of the next three years, you will earn citizenship. The second is for a specially skilled worker who invests in to a large business. Invest 10 million rubles (~ USD 162,000), own at least 10% of the total shares after the investment, with a total capitalization of at least 100 million rubles (~ USD 1.6 million), and pay taxes of at least 6 million rubles per year for three years, and you will qualify for citizenship. The Residency by Investment Program Russia has been developed by the government as another mechanism for promoting economic growth. Most countries offer these programs in order to attract much-needed foreign direct investment so they can then use these funds to invest in their own economic or cultural projects. So, start a business in Russia that has net profits of USD 161,000 and you qualify for a second passport as a self employed businessman. Otherwise, you can buy at least 10% of a business with total capital of USD 1.6 million and which pays USD 161,000 per year in taxes. This second option can be done as an investment group or as an individual. For example, you could invest USD 2 million and own 100% of the shares. To qualify under this section, you must also be bringing an important skill with you in to the country. But remember, it s not just about the investment. Your business must be profitable for the three years preceding your application for citizenship. You will need to hit the ground running and earning to hit these numbers.

6 Russia shares land borders with Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Kaliningrad Oblast exclave on the Baltic coast, Belarus, and Ukraine to the west, Georgia and Azerbaijan to the southwest, and Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, North Korea to the east and much of the south. Russia's territory stretches over continents of Europe and Asia and has therefore many different climate zones. From the subtropical Black sea coast to the Far Eastern regions including southern parts of Siberia, there is mostly continental climate, with hot summers enabling outdoor swimming inrivers, lakes and hiking, and cold winters with a lot of snow, a paradise for ski holidays. Why Russia? The greatest amazing thing about Russia is, given its immense size, without a doubt the diversity of climate zones, and the weather extremes. In the summer months June to late August Siberia get sub-saharan temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius or more, vegetation is lush and pleasant. You will definitely need lots of sunscreen. Another positive side of the continental climate in the summer is that the weather can stay hot for weeks on end, interrupted only by an occasional rain shower. Summer days in June/ July in northern Russia are extremely long, with the sun going down at 11pm or in some regions not at all. Winters, November to March, are cold almost everywhere, with lots of snow, except in the southern part of the country where little to no snow comes by every year. If you do not take appropriate precautions, you can very quickly get a frostbite. Depending on where you go, take a note of the weather and equip yourself with adequate clothing. The outside temperature in the European part of Russia rarely gets below - 15 Celsius, but can drop even lower at night.

8 Benefits Visa-free travel to more than 118 countries around the world. Some "easy access" countries are: Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, South Korea, Mexico, Most of the Caribbean, Panama and Hong Kong. Russian passport has a 5 years (non-biometric) and 10 years (biometric) validity period. The Russian Citizenship by Investment program requires only 90 days of physical presence during the initial 1 year period. Pick-up of the Russian passport can be undertaken either in Russian Federal Migration Services Office or at an Embassy, High Commission or Consular Office of Russia. The Russian tax system is among the most advantageous in Europe. The corporate tax rate for residents is 20-per cent and income taxes at a flat rate of 13-per cent.
