We undertake our own research on an on- going basis including lifestage surveys and our yearly State of the Nation study. We produce transcripts, short videos and summaries and these are all available. Companies can use our footage to create their own BESPOKE videos. Any queries please contact me at diane@voxpops.com Yours sincerely Diane
5. London Tape One Name: Alex Hamilton-Bailey Age: 33 Occupation: Headhunter Not much. Not very much at all because I don t have a great deal of faith over the way the pension system has worked over the last ten or fifteen years and I think a lot of people of my age don t, and therefore aren t probably putting money away in that form but will be through other forms I think. It s the big issue of our time though. 2:29 London Tape One Name: Ann-Marie Cooper Age: 52 Occupation: Executive Coach 11:54 I ve always maintained a pension. I ve had some that was, it s now all within a SIP. So, it s a combination of pensions that I had in the days when I was in employment but also I contribute now personally and make an additional contribution from my company once a year to top it up. 12:16
London Tape One Name: Sherin Santos Age: 24 Occupation: Accountant 25:40 A pension? I ve got a pension fund set up at home, which normally employers pay into anyway. Other than that, I m not really thinking about. This day and age, my age, don t really think about it. 25:53 Why do you think that is? Still young and you don t really think about it, just think everything s going to be okay. 26:00 And now you re living in the UK, will you start your pension in the UK as opposed to Australia? Probably not to be honest. I ll just take it along with my normal investments. 26:15 London Tape One Name: James Harvey-Kelly Age: 24
Occupation: Tailor 32:12 Nothing. Not at the moment. I pay my national insurance contributions, but apart from that no. I m twenty-four. 32:20 Is that because of your age? Yeah I don t think it s really relevant yet. 32:24 So if you could just say, I don t invest.. I don t invest my pension, no 32:30 London Tape One Name: Sarah Parrott Age: 50 Occupation: Owns own business/ Recruitment and personal development 40:21 What do you do in terms of investing your money? I have a few small pensions, and the house I live in and another property.
40:33 Do you save any money in ISA s? No 40:36 Why not? Because I just never have and I have a couple of pension schemes that run and I just never have. 40:50 40:47 That answers my next question London Tape One Name: Janet Edmonson Age: 50+ Occupation: Potter, makes ceramic. Owns own business 53:16 What do you do in terms of investing your money? Property. 53:30 Why property?
We just have several houses, so that s the bulk of our investments. Some shares, I don t have a pension because I haven t worked for a long time, I was bringing up the family, so yes, I mean it s linked obviously to the joint investments that my husband and I have made and that s predominantly in property. I do have some shares. 53:50 Would you feel safer if you had saved for a pension? Yes in one sense, but most pensions have disappeared so I think we ve done it as well as we could and given the circumstances, probably better. I know lots of people that have put lots and lots of money into pension plans and they re going to get nothing out of it. Answered above. London Tape Two Name: Maurizio Age: 45 Occupation: Financial Analyst (Slight Italian accent) 02:55 Pension, almost nothing, I mean I got something from my work, but I don t do anything. Why? Because, I think its just a subjective thing, me not believing much in pensions, It s too far away. I prefer for me to have control of my cash. 03:21 So, ten years from now, will you be thinking differently? I will be somewhere else probably, yeah probably doing more Yoga.
03:32 And will you be thinking about your pension then? Hopefully I will have enough cash not to think about a Pension. 03:38 London Tape Two Name: Tax Age: 24 Occupation: Account Manager 14:02.18 [00:14:04.01]I know little about that to be honest, I mean I know that most people have it when they're sixty-five or something, but in terms of how it's set up I dunno, I'd say I'm pretty naive with that at the moment. 14:17.08 Do you intend to set up a pension? [00:14:19.06]I think it's useful. When you retire it does help. I've seen a lot of people that do have a pension and it does last. It gives them that livelihood that they want, so I think it's a good idea so eventually yeah. 14:29.23 London Tape Two Name: Stacey McClure Age: 34
Occupation: Office Manager [00:24:15.05] [00:24:17.21]Don't have one. Don't want one. [00:24:21.08] Why? [00:24:22.17]As I say, I really don't worry about the future. I'm offered a pension with my work and I don't take it. Just don't think about the future. [00:24:30.13] Might that change? [00:24:32.13]I don't think so but I suppose it would seem natural that it would at some point. [00:24:37.03] London Tape Two Name: Shirley Rothwell Age: 50 Occupation: Public Sector Manager [00:31:44.07] [00:31:47.17]I have a public sector pension which currently is good. We will have to wait and see what the government do about it but at the moment it's a good pension and a couple of properties. [00:32:00.15] London Tape Two
Name: Stuart Matthewson Age: 53 Occupation: Manages own company measuring patients outcomes [00:46:05.07] Pension. I have a state pension which is available to me when I want to draw that down. Which will be quite useful. [00:46:20 London Tape Two Name: Iqbal Mubarak Age: 58 Occupation: Runs a software company [00:55:10.17] [00:55:13.10] It's all in bricks and mortar now. I took it all out so it's all in bricks and mortar. [00:55:20 London Tape Three Name: David Quinn Age: 58 Occupation: Consultant 4:21 I run a self managed super fund, and I m also hope my investments will ultimately pay dividends in terms of providing me with financial security.
4:35 London Tape Three Name: AJ Age: 43 Occupation: Property Investor 12:44 It s accumulating nicely; I do leave a little bit every month for my pension fund. 12:54 So are you organising it yourself or is it a company? No we have a company who organises it for us externally. 13:02 London Tape Three Name: Miles Age: 24 Occupation: Engineer 20:42 I set aside 400 a month from my profit from the company, it s not officially a pension but it s in a savings account that builds up and up and hopefully by the time I need to retire next year I ll have enough to go on for a while. 21:01
London Tape Three Name: Katie Clark Age: 66 Occupation: Retired 29:35 I ve got a little company pension and my husband s got a pension and between us we can manage. 29:46 London Tape Three Name: Catherine Locke Age: Late Sixties Occupation: Retired [00:36:21.14] [00:36:23.11] Well again, because my husband's in the industry, he's in investments and pensions, you know he's dealt with all that over the past [00:36:32.16] London Tape Three Name: John Holmes Age: 61 Occupation Talent agent [00:44:19.08] [00:44:21.01] I have a pension. I have a SIP.
Could you explain what that is? Self-Invested Pension Plan. And does that mean that you do it yourself? I do it myself with advice yeah. How do you find that compared to doing it with a company? Well, at the level I've got it, it's much better. [00:44:43 Elizabeth hickmatt Age: 60 s Occupation: journalist [00:50:52.01] [00:50:54.14] That's a problem, and I think it's better not to go there either. You just have to hope that you can manage when you get to it. [00:51:07.20 London Tape Four Name: Mona Age: 45 Occupation: Interior Designer 2:37 No 2:43 And you don t plan to?
No, I have three kids. I put it on my children and their education as well 2:48 Why do you not want to save for a pension? I did think about. I will think about it. 2:53
