2 BRIEF ON CSDP The CSDP emerged from the merger of two previous CCD Projects in Nigeria, i.e Local Empowerment and Environmental Management Project (LEEMP) and Community-Based Poverty Reduction Project (CPRP)

3 Project Development Objective To support empowerment of communities and Local Governments for sustainable increased access of poor people to improved social and natural resource infrastructure services.

4 Project Components Federal Level Coordination and Program Support-Ministry of Finance/FPSU LGA/Sectoral Ministries Capacity and Partnership Building-implemented by the State. Community-Driven Investments

5 COMMUNITY DRIVEN INVESTMENTS This component is managed by the State Agencies. Funding is provided for Community Development Plans (CDPs) of selected communities based on specific criteria, including broadbased community participation in plan formulation, micro-project identification and preparation, and a matching contribution from communities.

20 CONCLUSION CDD approach in Project implementation can help achieve the desired results in terms of community empowerment and access to social amenities. Continuous funding of local communities is a prerequisite for the Sustainability of CDD approach. Capacity building for Local officials is key to mainstreaming CDD approach into local planning and budgeting.
