1 Overview of stand construction guidelines FIBO 2018 This overview is intended to provide exhibitors and stand constructors with a brief summary of all questions and issues relating to stand construction. All exhibitors must check whether their stand requires official approval or not. Approval is based on whether the technical guidelines of koelnmesse and the design specifications of the FIBO s organizers have been adhered to. Please also take note of the regulations for light effects and sound equipment. What requires approval? all stands with a structural height of more than 2.50 m (regarding your design, adjacent stand protection zone and transparent construction) special structures such as cinemas, staircases, vehicles, skips or trucks or double floors effect materials such as fire, gas, pyrotechnics, nitrogen, fog machines or hazers all stands with a structural height more than 4.00 m (without the suspension from the hall ceiling) also regarding for the stand security two-storey structures * stages, platforms and pedestals intended to be walked on by visitors (construction booklet/static tests)* walk-on bridge structures (static tests)* * additional charges Please make sure to keep documents such as fire protection certificates ready on-site. Who approves? Your stand construction documentation is checked by different verification authorities: 1. The FIBO team examines the visual design and adherence of adjacent stand protection zone of 3.00 m 2. Koelnmesse examines static, construction booklets, special constructions and stands with a structural height of more than 4.00 m 3. Koelnmesse pass the documents to the relevant authorities if required. Please contact the FIBO Team if you have any questions regarding stand design and adjacent stands. 2 requirements for my stand? Structural height stand decking with floor covering, fire protection class B1 (carpet, parquet, PVC etc.) attractive overall appearance (no trestle tables etc.) The maximum permitted structural heights in the halls are: Halls 4.1, 4.2, 5.1, 5.2, 10.1 and 10.2: max m (incl. suspensions) Halls 6, 7, 8 and 9: max m * (incl. suspensions) For stands in halls 6, 7, 8 and 9 placed on the outside wall the structural height for the back wall is 6.00 m. Exhibitors, whose stands are placed on the outside wall in halls 4.1 and 4.2 have to ask the FIBO Team for the detailed plan because the structural height is partially 4.35 m. For stands in hall 5.1 and 5.2 placed beneath column distribution ducts the structural height is 4.50 m. Please request a detailed plan of your stand space from FIBO Team! * For row one and two of the vertical escape routes in halls 6-8 the structural height is 6.00 m. Please examine your possibilities with the actual hall plan. Corridor overbuilding Corridor overbuildings are not allowed without previous agreement Suspended objects above the stand space must not exceed the limits of the stand space If an overbuilding of the corridor is absolutely required, this decision is subject to a case by case inspection and approval by FIBO and Koelnmesse The overbuilding / occupancy of escape routes is prohibited Adjacent stands / transparent construction Stand construction elements, Banner and other suspended constuctions which are closer than 3.00 m to the neighbouring stand and which have a structural height exceeding 2.50 m require written authorization from the neighbouring stand. Responsibility lies with the exhibitors to reach an agreement regarding stand height. The FIBO team is responsible solely for providing the contact details. If no authorization has been obtained from the neighbouring stand, the stand operator in question may be obliged to dismantle the offending structure. All sides of the corridor of the stands may be max. be closed by 30% of their length. Visible walls on the sides of the corridor must be designed towards outside. Corridors, even if they are only 2.50 m wide, raise the regulation to the neighborhood protection zone. Sound equipment Examples for events at the stand are hosted announcements, hosted shows, competitions and prize draws, competitions involving visitors,

3 interviews, posings, prize announcements and tombolas, quizzes. The term does not cover presentations on monitors or on data projectors, running noise of exhibited machinery, product tests, photography sessions or autograph sessions with celebrities. Volume regulations Hall 4.1 and 4.2 From Thursday to Sunday the noise level coming from a stand must not exceed 85 db at the stand boundary. During an assigned show slot the noise level coming from a stand must not exceed 95 db at the stand boundary. Stand events and shows may only be conducted within assigned shows slots. Booking is mandatory. Stand events and shows are not permitted unless a show slot has been assigned and the relevant written agreement has been concluded. Volume regulations Hall 6 and 7 During a slot the noise level coming from the exhibitor s stand space must not exceed 95dB at the stand boundary. Outside the relevant slots the noise level coming from the exhibitor s stand space must not exceed 85dB at the stand boundary. While the trade fair is in progress, the FIBO team will assign scheduled show slots for events at the exhibitor s own stand. Stand events and shows may only be conducted within assigned shows slots. Booking is mandatory. Stand events and shows are not permitted unless a show slot has been assigned and the relevant written agreement has been concluded. Once your registration via the online service tool has been received by the FIBO team, the team will you the relevant agreement, requesting your signature. Volume regulations Hall 5.2 and 8 While the trade fair is in progress the noise level coming from the exhibitor s stand space must not exceed 85dB at the stand boundary. No permission is given for events at the exhibitor s own stand in Hall 5.2 throughout the entire trade fair. Volume regulations Hall 9 On Thursday and Friday the noise level coming from the stand must not exceed 77 db at the stand boundary from 10:00 hrs to 11:00 hrs, from 12:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs and from 14:00 hrs to 15:00 hrs. Outside noise abatement periods the noise level coming from the stand must

4 not exceed 85 db at the stand boundary from 9:00 hrs to 10:00 hrs, 11:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs, from 13:00 hrs to 14:00 hrs and from 15:00 hrs to 18:00 hrs. On Saturday and Sunday the noise level coming from the stand must not exceed 77 db at the stand boundary from 12:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs and from 14:00 hrs to 15:00 hrs. Volume regulations Hall 10.1 and 10.2 The noise level coming from a stand must not exceed 85 db at the stand boundary on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday and Sunday the noise level coming from a stand must not exceed 95 db at the stand boundary. No events are permitted at the exhibitor s own stand on Thursday or Friday. On Saturday and Sunday events at the exhibitor s own stand are permitted from 09:00 to 12:00 hrs and from 14:00 to 18:00 hrs. Exhibitors must not hold events at their own stands between 12:00 and 14:00 hrs, during which time all platforms and event space are

5 closed. Legal consequences of violations FIBO conducts regular checks to ensure that the exhibitor is complying with volume regulations and other provisions for stand shows and events as specified in this Agreement. Should FIBO find any violation of exhibitors against these provisions, then FIBO may, in particular, issue a warning to the relevant exhibitor and may terminate the exhibitor s show or other event immediately. If the exhibitor violates volume regulations for a second time, then FIBO may, in particular, turn off the exhibitor s electric power of its musical equipment for the remaining day at FIBO If the exhibitor violates volume regulations for a third time, then FIBO may, in particular, terminate the exhibitor s running trade fair operations at FIBO 2018 and close down the exhibitor s stand at FIBO Should the exhibitor s violation of provisions in this Agreement lead to costs for additional safety precautions, then those costs must be borne by the exhibitor. This provision does not impact the exhibitor s duty to pay contractually agreed fees to Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH for the duration of the entire event. The exhibitor cannot derive the right to claim damage compensation or any other claims arising from the closure of its stand under the aforementioned circumstances. This provision does not impact any possible assertion of furtherreaching claims by Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH towards the exhibitor for violations against event regulations at its exhibition stand. Responsibility Responsibility for adhering to the design specifications of the FIBO's organizers and above all to the technical specifications of the Exhibition Centre Cologne lies with the exhibitor, i.e. with the company running the exhibition stand.
