Who are some people you admire most and why do you admire them? I have always admired Abraham Lincoln for too many reasons to list here. I think highly of Dwight Eisenhower, Teddy Roosevelt, and James Madison for the conviction of their beliefs and their work to advance those beliefs 14. I want someone who understands and cares about our district to represent us in Tallahassee 23. Why should the business community support your candidacy: I am strong supported of local businesses. It is imperative that we find ways to encourage economic growth. My district is an important part of Miami-Dade County, and Miami-Dade is an important part of the State of Florida. We need to work together to ensure that the growth that we have seen over the past 10 years continues and the best way to do that is to invest in our infrastructure, which will create jobs, which will create more consumers, which will help our business community to thrive. 24. What changes would you recommend to Florida's K-12 system of education? Please address school funding. I am not well enough versed in the system to recommend changes. I would like to find ways to increase our expenditures per student, provided that such expenditures are financially responsible. 28. As an extension of the school day and to help end "Generational Pverty" would you support funding affordable afterschool programs that provide assistance with homework, delinquency prevention, life skills and the development of good character for Florida's working families? Yes 29. What is your position regarding the ability of teachers unions and other public-sector unions to collectively bargain issues that are beyond the typical employment issues directly tied to hours worked and wages/benefits paid?

Unions exist and we have an obligation to deal with them in good faith. I have always tried to work with unions to create an employer/employee relationship that is fair and balanced, but leaving the municipality financially healthy. I have long had open communications with the union leadership in Key Biscayne. 30. How would you address the shortage of qualified talent to fill jobs in STEM-related fields? More emphasis in early education in order to foster interest at an earlier age. Create incentives for students to fill those jobs. Perhaps loan forgiveness or other forms of incentives. 31. What are your thoughts about having a series of benchmarks designed to create a minimum standard for Math and Language Arts throughout the United States? What changes should be made to Florida's higher education system? I don't have enough knowledge of Florida's higher education system to make recommendations. I can only say, anecdotally, that I see improvements being made over the last years. Innovation & Economic Development 34. What can the state do to continue to strengthen its position as a worldwide hub for trade? Improve infrastructure. Attract more talent. Grow more talent through our educational system. 35. Manufactoring: Agriculture: Construction: Infrastructure involves a lot of construction opportunities. Hospitality/Tourism: I am not sure where we need more tourism, but I am willing to learn. Healthcare: Attract more talent. Grow more talent through our educational system. 36. What would you propose to diversify Florida's economy so that we better handle economic downturns? We need to make Florida more attractive by having highly qualified candidates coming up through our education system. This will attract the tech people, this will attract the healthcare people. 4 37. When is it appropriate for the legislature to shift money from a dedicated state trust fund to pay for other services? It depends. If a trust fund is overfunded and there is no need for the surplus, that might create such a situation. If there is an emergency that demands the funding, though I would be very uncomfortable with emergencies allowing such action. 38. There is a widening gap between infrastructure needs and infrastructure funding. Would you support private investment in public infrastructure projects in order to meet infrastructure needs? Yes How would you propose private investors be repaid? It would depend on the type of project. 39. Philosophically, when considering the following issues, do you think the authority to set or regulate these areas should be at the Federal, State, Local or Regional Government level? What are the three most important things the state legislature could do to improve Florida's business climate? 1: Invest in infrastructure 2: Create educational opportunities that provide workers that are in demand for the present and the future 3: Offer incentives that include stronger clawbacks for companies that create jobs in Florida. It will incentivize companies to create jobs, while giving the state a way to hold those companies more accountable to make good on their obligations. 43. Florida does not currently have a sales tax on services. Several attempts have been made over the past decade to create a new tax on services in the state Constitution. Would you support creating a sales tax on services?ness testimony standards? No Explain: I don't believe it is a constitutional issue. 44. What is your position on collecting sales and use tax on transactions from out of state and online retailers? Support 45. What is your general philosophy on state and local taxes?

5 Taxes are an unfortunate necessity of society. We should collect them as needed to provide the necessary services to our communities. However, we must be accountable to ensure that those monies are properly spent and that our constituents are only paying what is necessary to provide such services. 46. Are there any taxes that should be increased? It depends on the circumstances. 47. Do you believe hotels should or should not be required to include resort fees in the daily room rate to allow guests to comparison shop before they book a room? Should be requred Explain: If there are distinctions between resort fees, or if hotels can unilaterally charge more, they should be included. If they are standardized for all hotels, then the inclusion is unnecessary. 48. What are your thoughts on the number of lawsuits files in Florida? Should the state intervene to make it easier or more difficult to file a lawsuit? Explain: I don't see how you can make it easier to file a lawsuit. However, making it harder is a slippery slope. Our legal system is not a perfect system, but it is the best one out there. 49. Would you support legislation that limits recovery for future medical care in personal injury lawsuits to what is "usually and customarily" paid to other medical providers in the community? Why? 50. Accuracy in Damages: Would you support legislation that limits the amount of money recoverable for medical care in personal injury lawsuits to the amount actually paid for the medical care versus the amount charged by the provider of the medical care? FINAL THOUGHTS We need to invest in Florida's future by investing in our infrastructure issues, as well as investing in education in this State. We have great opportunities in Florida. We just have to make them real.
