President s Report 14 We have 1875 members. Merchandise: Merchandise sales picking up a bit. SB1160 stickers are hot right now, possibly due to the election talk. One sticker: $1. 10 pack of stickers: $8 Events: No events this month. We are behind in trying to get a location reserved for RR&M and for Risk Warrants. This is just because of a lack of time/manpower and it will get done. Ye Connecticut Gun Guild Gun Show November 15th and 16th Fishing and Hunting show booth reserved. We need to try and find an Event Coordinator. Legal Cases: We currently have too many to list or to keep up with documenting. We are storing the documents and will start updating ASAP. Legal cases have been a topic of discussion on Summary Judgment. Press Releases: Summary Judgment Moves to a New Time Slot»» John McKinney Eliminated from Election by Connecticut Gun Owners
Publications: Risk Warrant publication needs to be put together, is with creative department. Will be trying to market Is it legal publications to gun stores and other vendors. We have sold out of Risk Warrant publications. Volunteers: We have a TV Production/Video Editing volunteer who has volunteered to help us with their limited schedule. Will be working with Creative to find a good first project. We have a community coordinator in Fairfield County that is selling select Connecticut Carry merchandise using mobile payment systems. This jives with our distributed community model. We need more like this. Need to spend time with form and blog volunteers this month to get them up and running. Technology: The forum is progressing. Was unable to launch last month, still working on it. Working to extract clips and to make a podcast out of Summary Judgment. Fixed more bugs and errors on the website. Need to work on Connecticut Carry Permit web presence. Finalized functionality on our legislative site to easily show who voted for and against the 2013 Gun Ban. Renewed domains. 15
16 Legal Issues Edward Peruta Will be addressing a lack of sponsor payments for Summary judgment with the various sponsors. Requested a list of sponsors and what they owe from administration. Rich B will forward. Motioned for a vote for funding for Burgess v Wallingford which may be headed towards the Supreme Court. Working on investigating a case out of Fairfield where a father wearing an empty holster to drop off their kid at school was arrested for Breach of Peace.»» Investigating an incident in Hartford where a truck full of people were witnessed yelling threats and pointing a firearm at pedestrians. Apparently the people in the truck were out of state police officers and were let go after showing their badges.
Education Raymond Johansen Will be working with Rich B to schedule RR&M seminar.»» Will also be working to schedule work to be done on Connecticut Carry permit course. 17
Votes 18 Director Peruta motioned for a vote to assist in funding Burgess v Wallingford, which may head to the Supreme Court. Director Peruta voted yes. Director Johansen voted yes. Director Mei voted yes. Director Burgess abstained from voting due to his personal involvement in the case. A limit of $2,500 was agreed upon for this vote. Director Peruta motioned for a vote on whether we should endorse candidate for Attorney General Kie Wesby. Discussion ensued, the result was that the directors agreed that we will stick with our policy and record on not endorsing people, but we will endorse Mr. Westby s platform. We will also be actively educating people about Mr. Westby s campaign as we feel he is not well known enough of a choice. We have also extended an offer for Mr. Westby to provide a written statement, story or description of his platform in our newsletter. Connecticut Carry has received many requests for Connecticut Carry to take a stance on whether Joe Visconti, candidate for governor, should drop out of the race. Director Burgess motioned for a vote on this issue. Discussion centered around not taking an issue on the Visconti candidacy.»» The Tea Party has called on Visconti to drop his campaign, if that does not work, there is nothing we can do.
Adjournment President Burgess motioned that the meeting be adjourned; the motion was made without objection. 19
