3 Thank you for purchasing your pre-owned vehicle from our dealership. We are part of the Carco Group, a Bristol-based third generation family business. We are very proud of our heritage which goes back as far as We pride ourselves on our high standards of customer service and very much value your custom. This warranty is intended to give you additional reassurance when driving your vehicle. There are occasions when components fail and we seek to ensure that we cover specific failures should this happen. We do not cover wear and tear items which generally form part of routine maintenance and repairs conducive with mileage for example, but we will cover the items explicitly stated in this document. In the event that any item excluded or not otherwise covered by this warranty may develop a fault, you may still be entitled to claim under your statutory rights. Any item not specifically mentioned is not covered. ENGINE Rocker assembly (rocker shaft, arms and pushrods) valves, (excluding burnt or pitted valves) springs and guides, cylinder head (excluding cracks) and gasket, oil pump, pistons and rings, cylinder bores, connecting rods, gudgeon pins, crankshaft and bearings flywheel and starter ring gear, camshaft and cam followers, timing gears & dephaser pulley, chains and belts, (providing proof of manufacturer s recommendations for changing is supplied) G EA R B OX - M AN UAL Failure of the following internal mechanical parts:gears, synchromesh hubs and rings, selectors, shafts, bearings, and bushes, (Includes transfer gears), gear lever assembly. E L E CTR I CA L SYSTE M Starter motor and solenoid, pre-engagement mechanism, alternator, regulator, indicator flasher relay, front and rear windshield wiper and washer motors, horn, headlamp adjuster motor, sunroof motor, instrument panel assembly (rev counter, gauges etc), relays, voltage regulator, fuel tank sender, radiator cooling fan motor, heating fan motor and rheostat, thermostat sensor, electric door locking solenoids and motors, electric window and sunroof motors, electric seat motor adjusting mechanism, switches (rotary switch/headlamp switch etc) sensors. Remote locking key and key reader. A DVA N C E D E L ECTRON IC/IG N ITION ECU (Electronic ignition control module), UCH (Electronic control unit), distributor, electronic spark control, detonation sensor and controller, cruise control unit, ignition coil. CAS I NG S Failure of the following parts:engine, gearbox and rear axle casings. N.B. Only in the event of damage brought about by failure of a covered component. SU N DR I E S Sundries such as coolant, lubricants, fluids, oils, filters and other working materials are covered if their replacement is necessitated due to a valid claim and the vehicle is not within 1,000 miles or one month of its next service. OI L S EA LS AN D GASK E TS 7 Oil leaks that necessitate the removal of the engine, gearbox/drive unit or differential unit to carry out the repairs only are covered _DDL_WarrantyBook.indd 7

8 P L AT I N U M P L ATI N UM WA R R A NTI ES Subject to the terms and conditions of the warranty being fully complied with, in addition to the items covered by the Gold part scheme, the following additional items are covered against Mechanical Breakdown. TR A NS M I SSION Dual Mass Flywheel. FOU R WH E EL D R IVE Half shafts, drive shafts, constant velocity joints, universal joints and couplings, Four Wheel Drive unit. TU R B O C H ARG ER (Where factory fitted by manufacturer) E L E CTR I CAL Satellite navigation and receiver units, audio systems and computers. The air bag system itself is not covered as failure is quite rare. If the air bag fails to deploy or has deployed this is normally covered by the manufacturers warranty or your own car insurance. Repairs or replacement wiring looms are covered up to a maximum of 500. OTH E R Air conditioning system pipes, Catalytic Converter, Power Steering pipes. A L A R M SYSTE MS AN D IMMOB I LISER S Alarm systems and immobilisers are covered provided they were factory fitted by the vehicle manufacturer as part of the vehicles original specification _DDL_WarrantyBook.indd 8

9 US E D V E H I C L ES Before you took delivery of your vehicle it should have received a pre-delivery inspection and service which should be recorded in the servicing schedule. If this has not been completed for any reason, please contact us immediately so that we can update your documentation. In the unlikely event that this basic routine has not been undertaken, we will do so free of charge provided we receive notification within 28 days of purchase. This service must at least include the following:- SERVICI NG SH EDULE SERVIC I NG S C H E D U LE Change engine oil and filter. Check oil levels in differential and gearbox, topping up where necessary. I M PO RTA NT NOTE In order to maintain the validity of your Warranty, you must carry out normal driver checks and maintenance and have the vehicle maintained in line with the Manufacturer s Service Schedule. As proof of this you should ensure the appropriate service panels are completed and stamped where appropriate. Please retain the relevant invoices which must be provided in the event of a claim. A maximum allowance of 1,000 miles or 1 month either side of the stipulated mileage or time is permitted. It is an express term of this warranty that, unless otherwise agreed in writing, all servicing must be carried out by one of the authorised repair centres listed on page _DDL_WarrantyBook.indd 9

10 TERMS AND CONDITIONS TERMS A N D CO N D ITI O N S GENERAL 1. This warranty is supplied with the intention of providing you, the customer, with additional protection on your purchase. In the event that any item excluded or not otherwise covered by this warranty may develop a fault, you may still be entitled to claim under your statutory rights. In the event of any such failure please contact the Supplying Dealer. Your statutory rights are not affected. 2. This warranty is not transferable to other owners or vehicles unless agreed in writing with the Supplying Dealer. 3. The Warranty Holder cannot cancel this warranty. 4. Vehicle recovery and roadside assistance are excluded from cover. D EA L E R S OB L IGATIONS The Supplying Dealer undertakes, subject to these terms and conditions, to carry out the repairs (or reimburse expenses incurred if agreed) in making good mechanical failure of the parts covered by the warranty. 6. The Part Scheme covered by the warranty is recorded on the warranty proposal form. Any item not specifically mentioned is not covered. 7. The maximum liability per claim is recorded on the warranty proposal form. The cost of the repairs shall not, in total, exceed the maximum liability per claim. There is no limit to the number of claimable occurrences, save the total value of claims throughout the period of the warranty shall not exceed the retail value of the vehicle. 8. The Supplying Dealer s obligations under this warranty will run from the date of sale for the time period / mileage recorded on the warranty proposal form. 9. The Supplying Dealer shall be released from all liabilities and obligations under this warranty, if the terms and conditions of the warranty are not complied with. 10. The Supplying dealer will be released from all liability should it be discovered that the odometer has been fraudulently disconnected or tampered with. 11. The Supplying Dealer reserves the right to specify the use of guaranteed reconditioned or exchanged parts. Liability for parts to be limited to the cost of these items _DDL_WarrantyBook.indd 10

11 12. The vehicle must be maintained in line with the Manufacturer s recommended service schedule. A maximum allowance of 1000 miles or 1 month either side of the stipulated mileage or time is permitted. 13. To take reasonable care of the vehicle in particular to carry out usual driver checks and maintenance including (but not limited to) tyre pressures, oil level, water levels. EXC LU S I ONS 14. This warranty does not cover: TERMS AND CONDITIONS C U STOM E R OB L IGATIONS (a) Vehicles used in any sort of competitions, racing, track days, hire, reward, gain, self drive hire, hackney carriage, taxi work. (b) Normal service parts such as tyres, filters, spark plugs, fan belts, exhausts etc. or faults resulting from gradual deterioration consistent with the vehicle s age and mileage at the time of claim. (c) Any defect resulting, in whole or in part from unsatisfactory, improper or unauthorised work, or by the fitting of replacement parts, experimental units or modifications other than those approved by the vehicle Manufacturer. (d) Defects caused by accidental damage, misuse, neglect,water ingress, external sources, or failure of any item not covered by the warranty. (e) Any defect drawn to the customer s attention, in existence prior to the commencement of this warranty, or occurring during the Manufacturer s own warranty period, items subject to recall by the Manufacturer for repair or replacement or any claim resulting from manufacturing defect or faulty design. (f) Consequential loss or damage of any kind. (g) Body panels, paint and interior trim, door and boot locks, petrol tanks, glass of any description _DDL_WarrantyBook.indd 11

12 CLAIMS MANAGEMENT C L A I M S M ANAG E MENT 15. In the event of an occurrence giving rise to a claim, the defect must be reported to the Supplying Dealer as soon as possible and at the latest within 14 days of the occurrence. 16. All repairs must be authorised by the Supplying Dealer before any work is carried out. Unauthorised work is not covered by this warranty. 17. The Supplying Dealer reserves the right to subject the vehicle and/or damaged parts to expert assessment and the decision of the appointed assessor will be final and binding on both parties. 18. All parts replaced during the course of the repair become the property of the Supplying Dealer. 19. Where the dealer has agreed to work being carried out elsewhere, payment will only be made on production of the relevant receipted invoice. Under no circumstances will work be authorised to non-vat registered business and therefore any non-vat invoices will not be paid. 20. All matters relating to an event giving rise to a claim must be included in a single claim. D E F I N ITI ONS MECHANICAL FAILURE Actual breaking or burning out of any of the components listed. RECORDED MILEAGE The mileage recorded on the odometer at the time of purchase. This should not be considered as giving any indication of the miles covered by the vehicle. MAXIMUM PAYMENT The maximum amount, inclusive of V.A.T. payable on any one claimable occurrence _DDL_WarrantyBook.indd 12

14 H OW TO MA K E A C L A I M HOW TO M A KE A C L A I M Establish that the part(s) directly causing the breakdown are covered by this Guarantee and the terms of the Guarantee have been adhered to. Contact Guarantee Claims Service on Guarantee Claims Service will advise you on the appropriate cause of action to confirm your Guarantee validity and arrange for the repair authorisation to be progressed. Repairs must not be carried out without authorisation. The Repairing Dealer will normally be the Supplying Dealer. If the Supplying Dealer is not the repairer, take your vehicle to the nominated repairer and obtain a detailed written estimate of the repair cost. The written estimate must be forwarded to Guarantee Claims Service immediately. The authority to dismantle any part(s) must be given by the Guarantee holder to the repairer. On acceptance of the claim, the Supplying Dealer will reimburse the Guarantee holder with the dismantling cost as part of the total claim, up to the maximum liability indicated - see proposal form inside front cover. However, if on dismantling, the Supplying Dealer is advised that it has no liability then the Guarantee holder must bear the cost of the said dismantling. Any costs in excess of the said sum are the Guarantee holder s liability. In the event of any doubt as to liability, the Supplying Dealer reserves the right to submit the vehicle for expert inspection. The right to specify the use of guaranteed re-conditioned or exchange units is reserved by the Supplying Dealer. Liability for parts to be limited to the cost of these items. Where repairs are not carried out by the Supplying Dealer or an authorised repairer the garage may, in some cases, ask the Guarantee holder to settle the account in full and you submit the claim to: Guarantee Claims Service, Mead House, 34 Shortmead Street, Biggleswade, Beds SG18 0AP. PAYM E NT PROC E D U R E On completion of the authorised repairs, a full detailed invoice (listing parts, labour and VAT) must be submitted. Indicate clearly to whom payment is to be made. If Service proof is needed, you must include the original Service invoices for services and the dealer stamped service docket.
