8 Investment Programme Funding for flood management is targeted to reduce the risk to the maximum numbers of homes and the impacts on the economy regardless of location. We are investing 54 per person for everyone in Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria, as well as the east Midlands and Northumbria. We have designed a long term plan based on needannual bidding process has been replaced. 8
9 Investment in flood risk management in the North of England & the Midlands 280m funding available for Yorkshire and 33million for Leeds. 100m already spent on flood defences in Yorkshire since m has been provided to support households and businesses affected by the devastating floods in Cumbria and Lancashire following Storm Desmond. More support on its way for those affected by the Storm Eva floods. 9

13 National Flood Resilience Review This Government is strengthening our country s flood defences, including spending 2.3bn over the next six years. This new review will make sure communities are as protected as they can be from the kind of extreme weather we saw last December. Oliver Letwin, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster BBCWeather We need to be sure we have the best possible plans in place for flood prevention and protection across the whole country. This Review will identify any gaps in our approach and pinpoint where our defences and modelling need strengthening, allowing us to take prompt action. Environment Secretary Elizabeth Truss

18 Local Flood Partnerships Announced by the Government during the December 2015 floods Focussed on the most affected areas Cumbria: Derwent, Eden and Kent/Leven Yorkshire: Calder Valley and Leeds/Upper Aire Led by the Environment Agency working together with communities, businesses, local authorities, water companies and charities Ideas and actions from conversations, meetings and workshops are being collated into Flood Action Plans which will be published in Summer (Cumbria) and Autumn (Yorkshire) Actions will include improving community and business resilience, strengthening flood defences, maintenance, upstream management and partnership working
