2 Rules and Regulations Applying lo Labor and Material Furnished by Contractors. Not a complete list of rules and regulations As a guarantee ofgood work, and as» protection lo all lot-holders, and for the general welfare ol'lhe Cemetery, the management reserves the right to excavate for and build all foundations and also to regulate all work done on the Cemetery, under the following conditions, subject lo change: Signature Policies: If the signatures of all blood heirs are required, please request an affidavit of heirs form from our office. Memorials The signature of the lot owner is required; where the lot owner is not available, a blood heir's signature is required If it is the first memorial to go on a lot and the lot owner is not available, all blood heirs must sign. All blood heirs must also sign to remove or replace a memorial if the lot owner is deceased. Inscriptions The signature of the lot owner is required; where the lot owner is deceased, a blood heir's signature is required. The signatures of all blood heirs are required if the inscription is for someone not buried in the lot/grave. STONEWORK, MONUMENTS, ETC. 1. Rules covering the details of monument construction are furnished by the Cemetery to monument dealers who must comply with them in all respects. 2. Permission must be obtained from the Cemetery before any work on a lot can be done. The purchaser must request permission, in writing, with a full description of the work to be done. Contractors must act in accordance with the rules of the Cemetery. 3. Monument dealers must have a current certificate of insurance and indemnification agreement on file at the Cemetery. Both must be in the name of the company actually doing the work on the Cemetery grounds. 4. Before starting work on any memorial, monument dealers must submit an original permit for approval with a detailed drawing of the proposed memorial or inscriptipn including: Design, layout, type and color of material, dimensions, finishes, and proper signatures. The Cemetery reserves the right to reject plans it may deem improper or undesirable. 5. Foundations and permit fees must be paid for in advance. 6. Once this permit has been approved and all payments made, an approval slip will be sent to the contractor. No work should proceed before the approval slip is received in case any changes are required. 7. Prior to performing any work, contractors must come to the office with the approval slip and the memorial for inspection. The memorial will not be permitted to be installed if it does not conform to the approved permit and rendering in all respects.. 8. Contractors must show their permit to Cemetery authorities on demand. 9. The Cemetery does not guarantee to have foundations prepared in less than two weeks. Foundation installation may be temporarily suspended do to adverse conditions in the field. The contractor will be advised when the foundation is complete. ': 10. Foundations must be made the same length and width as the memorial to be installed. The depth required depends on the size of the monument. Minimum depth is 30", maximum depth is 8'. 11. The Cemetery will furnish all information in regard to the dimensions of lots. 12. No work of any kind may be done on Saturday or Sunday without the permission of the superintendant obtained in advance. 13. Persons engaged in erecting vaults, monuments, or other structures are prohibited from attaching ropes to trees, shrubs, or other objects. 14. Persons must not scatter material over adjoining lots or leave same on the grounds any longer than is absolutely necessary. 15. Obstruction of paths, incidental to improvements of all kinds, must be as slight as possible, and there must be no unnecessary delay in finishing after work has been commenced. 16. Obstructions on roads are prohibited. 17. No equipment, tools, or other items shall be brought into the Cemetery until required for immediate use. 18. When a funeral is being conducted nearby, all work of any kind shall stop until the service is complete. 19. Installations must be performed in a manner so as to avoid damage to grass, trees, and shrubs. All damage done to the Cemetery's property will be charged to the contractor. All damage to sod on lots will be repaired by the Cemetery and charged to the contractor. If materials and debris are not removed upon completion of the work, the Cemetery will remove it and charge the contractor. 20. Monument dealer is responsible for final leveling of any monument being set. 21. All workmen in any capacity within the confines of the Cemetery are subject to the control and direction of the Cemetery management 22. Workmen who disregard the regulations.and properties of the Cemetery, will not be permitted to work in the Cemetery in the future. 23. The Cemetery reserves the right to stop all work at any time due to adverse conditions in the field. 24. Any monument, inscription, or other structure which shall be determined by the Cemetery to be objectionable, improper or injurious, may be removed without notice, at the expense of the lot owner. 25. All monuments removed from other cemeteries must be approved by Arlington Cemetery and cleaned thoroughly before being brought into the Cemetery. 26. Soliciting work in the Cemetery or placing business cards or signs upon lots is prohibited. 27. No memorials bearing advertisements of any kind will be permitted in the Cemetery. 28. All memorial construction must be of solid, quality grade granite or standard bronze. 29. The use of marble or other types of materials may be used in special circumstances and only with the written consent of the Cemetery. 30. No inscriptions are permitted on the back of memorials unless it is a two-sided memorial on a double-faced lot, and both sides of the lot must be of equal size. 31. Memorials may only be installed on graves or lots that have been paid in full and deeded. 32. Darkening and lightening agents may be used as well as white, silver, gold, and black lithocrome. No other coloring is allowed. 33. Certain lots are sold where no monuments are allowed. 34. No temporary markers are permitted in the Cemetery. 35. If a memorial and foundation would have to be removed for a future interment, a letter must be signed to guarantee that the lot owner will cover the costs to replace the memorial and foundation prior to installation. 36. All memorials, including family mausoleums, monuments, headstones, or vases are the property of the individual owner. Therefore, any damage to memorials, regardless of cause, is the owner's responsibility. Please contact your local insurance agency to include your properly on your home owner's policy. 37. The Cemetery will extend every effort to avoid damage to memorials by lawn mowers, but will not be responsible for damage done thereby. The exclusive use of rock-finished bases is a remedial suggestion.

3 Arlington Cemetery To All Monument Dealers: Please be advised that the following information is required on an ORIGINAL permit only before we can approve a memorial for placement within Arlington Cemetery. A CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE forjenerauiability must also be on file at this office for no less than $1 million coverage. 1. Type of granite (Barre, Georgia, etc.) 2. Color of granite 3. Size measurements for the stone 4. A detailed drawing and/or description of the design and layout of the memorial 5. The section, lot number, and grave number(s) where the memorial is to be placed 6. If there is an existing memorial on the lot, any new memorial must be an exact duplicate of the existing memorial. Type of granite, color and design must match and the words "Exact Duplicate of Memorial" must be on the permit. 7. Proper signature required Having this information on the permits will help to ensure that the monument is approved as quickly as possible and will help prevent delays in the foundation being poured.
