2 JAMBALAYA COOK-OFF OPPORTUNITY The first Cook Off for a Cause Jambalaya Cook-Off is a fundraising event hosted by No One Fights Alone and is part of our annual fundraising efforts benefitting our 2017 Heroes. We hope you decide to get involved and join in on the excitement! Sunday, March 4 11am - Rum Runners Daiquiris & Sports Bar (IN REAR PARKING LOT) NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE WILL PROVIDE: Assigned booth space for each registered team Serving containers Forks Napkins TEAM GUIDELINES AGREEMENT The attached application, when received and accepted by No One Fights Alone (hereinafter called the ORGANIZATION), is considered a contract between the ORGANIZATION and the CONTESTANT for COOK OFF FOR A CAUSE (hereinafter called the EVENT). In consideration of the mutual agreements below and subject to the conditions expressed below, it is agreed as follows: 1. A completed application must be submitted by February 4, 2018 to qualify for the early bird registration fee of $100. Applications submitted after the early bird deadline will require a registration fee of $150. NO applications will be accepted later than February 25, Please mail applications to: No One Fights Alone, PO Box 2096., Marrero, LA 70073, RE: Cook-Off for a Cause. 2. Due to the limited (physical) space of the event site, the number of booths available for teams is limited and will be provided on a first come first serve basis. 3. Each team will be limited to a maximum of four (4) people; 1 Captain and 3 Team Members. The Captain of each team will receive 4 wrist bands when checking in at the registration table on Sunday. 4. Booths will be assigned after the application is signed and returned/approved by the ORGANIZATION. 5. Each CONTESTANT will be required to make a minimum of 5 gallons of jambalaya to be eligible for the judging competition. 6. Preparations can be made in advance but all jambalaya must be cooked on-site the day of the EVENT.
3 7. Jambalaya meats are limited to a combination of beef, turkey, chicken or pork (can use any or all). The meat must be boneless. No wild game or seafood allowed. 8. Each booth space will consist of one (1) 10 x 10 area. The CONTESTANT is responsible for bringing their own tent, tables, chairs, and cooking supplies to use at the EVENT. 9. Teams are allowed to bring their own beverages to the event, but can only bring CANS or ALUMINUM (NO GLASS) and can only be consumed by team members. NO beverages may be sold in any food booths or on the premises. 10. CONTESTANT can set up on the day of the EVENT, March 4 between 7-8am. All vehicles must be removed by 8am as no parking will be allowed in the cook-off area. 11. CONTESTANT must be in their respective booth with supplies on the day of the EVENT no later than 8am. Booth must be attended at ALL times during the cook-off hours (11am-4pm). 12. All cooking must be performed at the rear of the booth. This is a safety precaution in order to avoid the possibility of accidental burning. All cooking and serving shall be done in a sanitary manner. Each team will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe cooking area. Please make sure servers wear gloves. 13. Serving times are from 11am-4pm. Cooking teams are required to keep one (1) team member inside of their booth at all times to serve the jambalaya. No more than 4 team members shall remain inside a booth at any given time while serving the jambalaya. 14. Judging will be decided by Peoples Choice using a ticket system. All tickets/votes must be submitted by 3pm when voting buckets will be collected. 15. To ensure that each paid admission obtains a sufficient sampling of the jambalaya, the sample portions offered to the public will be limited in size and quantity by the ORGANIZATION. Jambalaya must be dispensed in the service container provided by the ORGANIZATION. 16. All cooking teams caught wasting jambalaya in an effort to leave early will be disqualified. 17. CONTESTANTS may break down their booth only after 4pm on March 5. No early dismantling is permitted. All booths must be completely dismantled promptly after the end of the EVENT. No vehicles are allowed in the cook-off area during the cook-off hours. 18. Please plan ingredients, supplies, and cookware appropriately. Burners allowed according to the Fire Code (NFPA101). CONTESTANT must provide a UL Classification of 2A:10BC or larger fire extinguisher (such as 4A:20BC and so on). This is an ABC type Fire Extinguisher(s). All extinguishers MUST be tagged with an up-to-date inspection tag that shows that a certified extinguisher company has inspected it. 19. The ORGANIZATION reserves the right to evict a CONTESTANT immediately for unethical sales or behaviors that, in the opinion of the ORGANIZATION, would
4 be harmful to other participants, attendees, volunteers or the reputation of the ORGANIZATION. 20. In the event the ORGANIZATION is unable to hold the EVENT due to any cause whatsoever, beyond its control, then, in such an event, the CONTESTANT hereby waives all claims for damages or compensation except for the return of the CONTESTANT S registration fee. 21. CONTESTANT agrees to and shall unequivocally protect, indemnify, defend, and hold harmless No One Fights Alone AND Rum Runners Daiquiris and Sports Bar, and each and every of their officers, board members, owners, employees, agents, volunteers, contributors, donors (collectively, Cook-Off Committee) from and against any and all present or future actions, claims, demands, suits, losses, expenses (including, but not limited to, fines, penalties, court costs, and attorney s fees), costs, damages, liabilities or judgments of any nature whatsoever, whether known or unknown as though expressly set forth and described herein, asserted by any person for injury, sickness, disease or death, or damages to persons or property, including, but not limited to, loss of use resulting therefrom which the Cook-Off Committee caused by, arising out of, related to, resulting from, or by reason of CONTESTANT s participation in the Jambalaya Cook-Off and/or negligent or intentional acts or omissions, whether they are actual or alleged, even if such is groundless, false or fraudulent, and anyone directly or indirectly acting on behalf of, by, or through CONTESTANT. Cook-Off Committee shall not be required to sustain an actual loss for the duty to protect, defend, indemnify and hold harmless set out in these provisions to commence and the duty to defend and indemnify shall begin at the onset of any claim or litigation.
