4 Global disaster response Our practice Norton Rose Fulbright has formed a cross-functional global disaster response team that prepares and advises clients in responding effectively to the avalanche of events that follow catastrophic and mass disasters. Our mission is to ensure your company is fully prepared and can handle incidents, disasters, crisis, or threats that could potentially jeopardize business, employees or clients. We work with you to recover systems, processes and data for business continuity purposes. Admiralty / marine response We can provide immediate, practical legal advice and assistance from experienced Master mariner casualty lawyers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We offer our clients access to an emergency response team operating across all time zones in handling marine casualties and the claims and investigations that follow. The team includes qualified mariners admitted in numerous jurisdictions. The team is skilled in advising on complex and environmentally and politically sensitive incidents. We advise on risk management, emergency response plans and take part in routine drills. Our experience covers total or partial loss through collision, explosion or fire, grounding or stranding, salvage, towage, wreck removal, pollution, environmental damage, loss of life and personal injury, damage to rigs, off-shore structures and terminals, regulatory matters and investigations by national authorities. Groundwater contamination We have served as National Counsel representing some of the nation s largest construction and energy companies on major groundwater contamination cases involving benzene and perchloroethylene. We have handled matters in New York, California, West Virginia and the US Virgin Islands. Insurance coverage Norton Rose Fulbright has a recognized and respected name in the insurance market and has worked with underwriters for more than 50 years. We are often called upon to defend the interest of insureds with respect to property and injury coverage claims in a catastrophic disaster. OSHA This team has some of the pre-eminent occupational health and safety practicing lawyers in the world. We were the goto firm to represent an international chemical company in several major explosions that occurred at its refinery resulting in 23 deaths and hundreds of injuries. This case led to the Occupational Safety and Hazard Act enacting the Process Safety Management regulations. Plant and refinery explosions Our team has defended companies in numerous highprofile plant and refinery explosions. With over 40 years of experience, we have worked with companies to mitigate media backlash and reduce the likelihood for a class action. We have had a high success rate with getting these matters dismissed or settled saving our clients from a major expense.
