1 LIGHTING EQUIPMENT 2018 SOUTH DAKOTA NONRESIDENTIAL PROGRAM AND REBATE APPLICATION As a business owner, you look for investments with short payback periods and attractive rates of return. Energy-efficient lighting is just such an investment. As much as 40 percent of your electric bill may be just keeping the lights on. Instructions: Complete the application in full and return it to MidAmerican Energy. For pre-notification include an itemized quote, product specifications and estimated installation date. For final applications, submit product specifications, dated itemized invoices and installation date(s). Incomplete information will delay rebate processing. must be purchased between Jan. 1, 2018, and Dec. 31, must be installed and operating prior to submission of final rebate application. If submitting a pre-notification for expected rebates greater than or equal to $5,000, check box below to reserve funds. If this expected rebate is less than $5,000 or submitting a final application, check final application box below. Rebates cannot exceed 50 percent of the installed (materials and reasonable labor). You will receive the lesser of the rebate amount listed or 50 percent of installed. Installed includes contractor labor only and does not include internal labor. Rebate application must be submitted within 90 days of dealer invoice for the equipment/material purchased. The rebate will be based on the rebate schedule in effect on the date of dealer invoice for the equipment/material purchased. Rebate applications received after 90 days of dealer invoice are not eligible for rebates. Custom : If specific equipment you intend to purchase and install is not listed, it may qualify under the Nonresidential Custom Systems option. However, custom projects must be preapproved by MidAmerican Energy prior to purchase and installation of equipment or system. See the Nonresidential Custom Systems preapproval application for details. L Troffer Fixtures and Retrofit Kits (Design Lights Consortium Qualified Product List Required) Rebates are based on a one-for-one replacement of existing linear fluorescent troffer systems. The Eligible DLC primary use designations: program accepts L troffer fixtures and retrofit kits. Linear ambient (or strip and wrap) fixtures are not 1 x 4, 2 x 2 and 2 x 4 luminaires for ambient Lamp-style retrofit kits for linear panels eligible in this category. With preapproval before purchase or installation, they may qualify through the lighting of interior commercial spaces (1 x 4, 2 x 2 and 2 x 4 troffers) Nonresidential Custom Systems option. That is, products in this category can operate off an existing fluorescent ballast and do not require mechanical or electrical changes to the fixture. Note that due to testing considerations, at this time only products that can operate off electronic instant start ballasts are eligible. Replacement lamps designed to operate off existing magnetic ballasts, or other types of electronic ballasts, are not eligible. Dual mode internal driver lamps (UL Type A/B) are allowed in this category if installed as a plug and play operating off existing fluorescent ballast. Internal-driver/line voltage linear lamp-style retrofit kits (UL Type B) and external-driver lamp-style retrofit kits (UL Type C) must utilize existing pin sockets. 6 Specific Terms and Conditions Participants must be nonresidential electric customers (commercial or industrial) with facilities located in MidAmerican Energy Company s South Dakota service territory. To be eligible for rebates, qualifying equipment must be new, installed on the premises and must not be purchased for resale. MidAmerican Energy Company must directly provide the primary electricity to the equipment at the facility for which the rebate is being paid. Expected rebates $5,000 require pre-notification in order for MidAmerican Energy Company to reserve funds. Pre-notification approval will be provided within 14 business days of receipt of pre-notification application, assuming the submitted application is complete. must be installed within 90 days of pre-notification approval. Funds that have been reserved for specific projects are not transferable to other projects, facilities/campuses, and/or customers. A reservation does not guarantee a rebate. For prescriptive rebates, the rebate payment cannot exceed 50 percent of the installed (reasonable labor and material/equipment - reasonableness to be determined by MidAmerican Energy Company). Installed includes contractor labor only and does not include internal labor. Itemized and dated invoices from the contractor must accompany equipment applications. Specification sheets also are required. Applications must be completed in full; incomplete applications will delay processing and may be returned. Applications must include the equipment s name, model/serial number, efficiency rating and the quantity of high-efficiency equipment installed. must be installed and operating prior to submission of final rebate application. Participants are responsible for ensuring that the equipment installed for this program meets all applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements. Rebates will be based on the rebate schedule in effect on the invoice date. Rebate checks will be issued to the building owner or account holder. MidAmerican Energy Company reserves the right to conduct on-site verification of equipment installation, install metering devices on new equipment, and to verify sales receipts and other project documentation at any time before or after issuing a rebate. All project installations with rebates exceeding $20,000 will be reviewed for on-site verification of installation by MidAmerican Energy Company or its agent prior to issuance of rebate. Rebate payments may be subject to income tax. Consult your tax advisor for more information. Rebates for all South Dakota energy efficiency programs are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Rebates may not be available if 2018 program funding is depleted prior to the end of the year. Rebate application must be submitted within 90 days of dealer invoice for the equipment/material purchased. The rebate will be based on the rebate schedule in effect on the date of dealer invoice for the equipment/material purchased. Rebate applications received after 90 days of dealer invoice are not eligible for rebates. Allow 4-6 weeks for rebate processing, excluding on-site verification, if needed. MidAmerican Energy Company does not endorse any particular, product or system design in promoting this incentive program. Listing a product does not constitute an endorsement, nor does it imply that unlisted products are defective in any way. This program is effective Jan. 1, 2018, through Dec. 31, 2018, and is subject to periodic review by MidAmerican Energy Company, and MidAmerican Energy Company reserves the right to modify or end these programs at any time.
