3 DEAR SIR/MADAM, As a provider of research and development (R&D) services for the insurance industry, the core expertise of Versicherungsforen Leipzig lies in identifying, picking up on and researching new trends and their consequences, as part of studies and research projects, for instance, in which insurers and related service and consultancy firms are directly involved. To enable, encourage and support the transfer of knowledge and professional discussions between the companies and the world of science, Versicherungsforen Leipzig has, over the course of many years in the industry, established a partner network with more than 200 partner companies. From an academic perspective, this network is complemented by selected universities that are dedicated to issues relating specifically to the insurance industry. As part of the partnership, we offer partner companies and academic institutions a variety of opportunities to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the field and to exchange information with colleagues and other partner companies. The continual growth of our partner network shows the high level of industry interest in systematic R&D activities, new and further development of existing knowledge, constructive cross-company collaboration and mutual exchange via an independent industry-specific platform. Through its»research«business area, Versicherungsforen Leipzig acts as an outsourcing partner for research projects in the form of studies, surveys, market and competitor analyses, or for work on special topics such as»process or product analyses«. Academic interdisciplinarity and neutrality form the basis for the practical research work of Versicherungsforen Leipzig. The work of the»development«business area includes providing support for organisations in the new development or further development of existing knowledge and in finding solutions for common or company-specific issues. Versicherungsforen Leipzig also provides tried and tested»development workshops«which focus on the constructive exchange of ideas and cross-company collaboration. Exclusive expert advice in the project stages of strategy, analysis and design, as well as in every step of the value creation process, rounds off the service portfolio in this area. Versicherungsforen Leipzig takes particular account of the network concept with its offer of user groups, trade conferences, seminars and congresses. Within the»network«business area it therefore offers topic-specific platforms for the exchange of ideas and experiences. Researching and preparing this data takes time and often time is limited. All employees of our partner companies have access to our download area where we have compiled a range of presentations that you can use for your day-to-day work. 17 IN OUR PUBLICATIONS Partner companies have the opportunity to publish a technical paper once a year in our themed dossier. We send our themed dossier to approx. 5,500 employees at our partner companies every two weeks. You can showcase your technical expertise to the entire network by contributing an article. In the monthly newsletter, we present our new forum partners along with interesting news from our partner companies. We currently send our newsletter to approx. 6,500 subscribers. In our News from the partner network section, we refer, for example, to new products, new cooperation partners, interesting events or new study results from our partner companies. We incorporate the logos of our partner companies into our logo map and use these in our brochures, on trade fair stands and on our website. 17

18 ON OUR WEBSEITE We present the latest news from our partners on our homepage so that visitors to our website can find out what issues are currently of concern to our partners. Each partner company is given its own microsite for its individual corporate presentation. In this area, which is freely accessible to interested parties, our partners can insert their own logo, publish press releases and other publications, refer to their own events, set up links to their own website and leave details of the relevant contact person. In our partner event calendar, we provide links to the latest events being organised by our partner companies. At a glance, users can see the type of event, event organiser and title of the event. A direct link then takes interested parties to further information. Visitors to the website also have the opportunity to transfer the date directly to their own calendar. 18

20 THE PARTNER CONGRESS IS AN ANNUAL EVENT FOR OUR PARTNER COMPANIES HELD EVERY AUTUMN Annual event for our partner companies As in every year, this event is an opportunity for us to share some of our mutual successes with our partner companies and, above all, to thank them for their collaboration. As part of the Forum Partnership, two employees from each partner company are invited to attend the event free of charge. At this year s Partner Congress, we will be presenting a number of innovative and forward-looking approaches and projects that pick up on the latest pressing issues within the industry. The first day is rounded off with a joint evening programme in pleasant surroundings, offering plenty of opportunity for discussion and the constructive sharing of experiences. WORKSHOPS ON THE FOLLOWING DAY The second day of the Partner Congress is all about cross-company and interdisciplinary training. Each year, we offer all-day workshops on a range of different topics. The Congress topics are picked up on again and considered in a global context. 20

22 Academic network Versicherungsforen Leipzig is a spin-off from the University of Leipzig and serves as a bridge between insurance theory and insurance practice. The goal of the academic network is to provide the academic community with contacts and insights into insurance practice and, at the same time, to provide access to the findings of current research and academic studies to those working in practice. We promote the exchange between business and academia by providing a wide range of services to academic institutions, as well as to students at all levels and from all fields, in particular business administration, insurance business operations, mathematics, IT and communication. The academic network pools together the services we offer to the academic community. This is based on free access to the knowledge platform. This offer applies to all students and employees at academic institutions. We offer faculties and institutes more extensive cooperation as part of the academic partnership with a variety of opportunities for joint activities, two-way exchange and knowledge transfer.
