HOW IT WORKS Verified membership ensures Emergency Transportation On receiving notification of an accident, ER24 verifies membership and ensures emergency transportation to the nearest appropriate private hospital. The injured party is stabilised in the trauma unit to the appropriate level of casualty benefit. If hospitalisation is required after the injured party has been stabilised, admission to hospital is arranged up to the level of benefit. Trauma and Casualty cover of up to R10, in a private facility (outpatient). Private Hospital dmission and payment of up to R200, private hospital treatment in a private medical facility (inpatient). Supervision of minors after an accident. Next of Kin lert. Road ccident Fund claims assistance. Immediate Benefit Your benefit will commence on receipt of your application and acceptance of terms. Medical Emergency Evacuation If a member of 24hr ngel ssist is involved in a MV, ER24 or any other medical emergency provider will provide Emergency Medical Transportation by road and/or by air ambulance, under appropriate medical supervision, to the nearest recommended medical facility capable of providing adequate care for the nature of the trauma sustained. Trauma and Casualty On arrival, admission to the casualty ward is provided, whether the member has medical aid or not, and they will be stabilised up to the level of casualty benefit of their membership card before it is decided whether they need to be admitted to hospital ensuring that they get the right level of medical attention when they need it most. These costs are managed through our dedicated case managers, funds are transferred immediately into the member MasterCard for settlement of these expenses. Private Hospital dmission If the patient requires admission to hospital, the admission is guaranteed, ensuring a seamless level of private medical treatment. Please note: This is not a per day hospital benefit, it provides acceptance into a private / appropriate medical facility. 24hr ngel ssist provides the required funds to any private hospital facility thus ensuring that our members do not have to foot the bill. Casualty Claim (minor injuries) Up to R10, Members are treated in casualty (outpatient). Members not admitted into hospital, can settle their bills with the member. Mastercard up to R10, X-Rays, Doctors consultation and treatment in casualty. Private in Hospital Claim (serious injuries) Up to R200, Members are treated and stabilised in casualty (outpatient). 5 YOUR ROD Supervision of Minors fter an ccident 24hr ngel ssist ensures that you and your children get quality medical treatment, should anyone be injured, but also that uninjured children will be supervised and cared for, until the next of kin arrives. How 24hr ngel ssist works for your children First reaction paramedics ensure that your child or children are not injured in any way. We telephonically alert up to 2 pre-selected next-of-kin. We supervise your children and attend to any emotional distress from the accident. fter your designated next-of-kin guardian arrives and we have verified their identity, we hand over care of your children to them. Next of Kin lert If involved in a MV, 24hr ngel ssist will contact up to 2 pre-selected next of kin and advise of the accident as well as to which hospital you have been transported. Road ccident Fund Claims ssistance Processing a claim through the Road ccident Fund can be very frustrating and challenging. 24hr ngel ssist utilises the services of Claims Expert (Pty) Ltd. They have a panel of attorneys to ensure that each claim is given maximum attention and if necessary will contest a claim to achieve this goal and to achieve the best results. Our philosophy of the greater the fight the greater the reward is the incentive we use with our attorneys. Members of 24hr ngel ssist will have access to Claims Expert (Pty) Ltd, including all medical specialists and accident reconstruction specialists who are recognised by the Road ccident Fund after a claim. Their costs are all included in the 24hr ngel ssist subscription fee. 6 YOUR ROD Frequently asked questions Will a 24hr ngel ssist member always go to a Private Facility? Yes, unless the MV event is life threatening and the nearest facility is a State facility. Once stable the 24hr ngel ssist member will then be transported to a Private hospital. What if a 24hr ngel ssist member is unconscious and the member s Mastercard has been stolen by roadside assistance or pedestrian and there are no stickers on the vehicle? EMS call in every MV case to confirm benefit (who to bill) and ER24 has live view to active 24hr ngel ssist members. The member will be transported to a Private facility and the casualty ward will be paid on submission of invoice to the Guarantor. What happens if Netcare 911 or any other Emergency Medical Service (EMS) provider is first on the scene? The member will be transported to a Private facility. What happens if the level of benefit is insufficient? The member s family will be contacted to inform them that benefit is insufficient, giving the family the time to arrange additional finance. Failing this once the funds have been exhausted the member will be transported to a state facility to continue treatment and recovery. It is therefore of the utmost importance to select the correct level of benefit. What if the member loses the MasterCard? new card is issued (Lost card fee of R100.00). What if the member is not transported to the hospital by EMS post MV because his/her condition is not serious, but would later like to be seen by a doctor for minor injuries or pain? We provide a 24 hour window period for members post the MV. The member needs to call us before seeking treatment in order to ensure funds are transferred to the MasterCard. police MV report needs to be submitted within 48 hours to the Guarantor, failure to do so will result in legal recovery of monies paid to the member. Is a dependant covered for a motorcycle accident? Cover is provided to dependants involved in a motorcycle accident if this is specifeid at inception of membership.
